: Now we get to see Nader explain how more Clarence Thomas clones and the loss of reproductive rights for women (overturning of Roe v. Wade) were inevitable "whichever candidate (Bush or Gore) won.

Hogwash. Overturning Roe v. Wade would not stop a woman from killing her child if she wants to. It would return the decision back to the states where it belongs. The federal government does not have that power and therefore, it falls to the states because of Amendment 10. If your state believes that innocent people should not be killed, but you still want to kill your child, go to a different state.

: Nader is a self indulgent, self-aggrandizing idiot, who apparently cares nothing for female reproductive rights, gender and racial equity, or the long-term health of a progressive democratic alternative in the United States.

There is no such thing as "gender" equity. Gender is a grammatical term and not the biological division of a species. The phrase you are looking for is sex equity.

Exactly. More and more people are getting this wrong.

Of course these really aren't acronyms, but are abbreviations. Acronyms are abbreviations that form a word, e.g. NASA.

:Well, looking at my bookshelf, there's a gnu on the cover of Learning GNU Emacs (the connection being obvious) and an appaloosa on the cover of Apache: The Definitive Guide (being either the native American connection or just the similarity of the name). No exact matches, but pretty close. Now, if they really wanted to do some appropriate book titles, they'd get these bugs off the Oracle book covers and put 'em on their Red Hat Linux books. :)

Being a native American, i.e. one born on the continent of America, therefore, native to America, I resent the term native American being used to represent American Indians. Why does the English language have to be corrupted by people? Native Americans are those native to America, I was born in America and by definition am a Native American.

If they're not conformant with a open and trademarked standard, they should not be allowed to say they are. Actually, even if it's not trademarked, I wonder if you could sue them for fraudulently misleading the customer into believing the OS will work seamlessly in their existing Kerberos network.

No, Kerberos is not "trademarked". Trademark is a noun, not a verb. Therefore, something cannot be trademarked. Kerberos might be a registered trademark; however, I think someone else posted that it is an abandoned trademark.

  7. Picking on Katz on Voices from the Hellmouth Released in Paperback · · Score: 1

Why do people pick on Mr. Katz? The economy is doing great, so we should leave him alone. Let him get back to the job of running the country, oops, writing articles. It is a private matter. Wouldn't you do the same thing in that situation? What person wouldn't lie about something like that? Katz is a good person. It is old news. We need to move on.

  8. Re:Good. on The Rise Of The Chickclickers · · Score: 1

You'll probably see a lot of comments about how many males (mostly teenagers) act immaturely towards females online, hitting on them and acting crudely and such, but women retreating to gender-centric fora doesn't contribute to equality any more than some ircluser whose first question is "age/gender/location?". I especially hate that question because it is wrong. People do not have gender, words do. Gender is a grammatical term, sex is the division of a species. People can be one of two sexes, male or female. The English language has three genders; masculine, feminine, and neuter. Gender is not synonymous with sex.
