  1. Re:Hydrogen: Pros and Cons on Hydrogen-Powered Aircraft == Anti-Terrorist Device? · · Score: 1
    One problem is that even liquid hydrogen is very light (very low density) and so requires very large tankage

    The article talks about liquid hydrogen but if this ever gets to the engineering stage I doubt that they would use it. Cryogenic hydrogen is difficult and expensive to store, dangerous to handle, and still really not dense enough for aircraft.

    There are other solutions however: a variety of liquids are safe sources of hydrogen and can be reformed into hydrogen quickly. For instance, Millenium Cell has information on their process, quote:

    In the process, the energy potential of hydrogen is carried in the chemical bonds of sodium borohydride, which in the presence of a particular catalyst either releases hydrogen or produces electricity. The primary input components of the reaction are water and sodium borohydride, a derivative of borax.
    In this case the "waste" can be kept and recycled back into sodium borohydride.I menion Millenium because I'm familiar with them but there are undoubrable other solution in the works. Various processes using hydrides and or nanotube storage system show potential. If you type "hydrogen storage" in the search box at www.ingenta.com you can get a good idea of the range of research.

    As long as the ads are in some way an object that can be separated from the rest of the html stream then you can find a way to detect it and block it.

    However, what do you do in the case of a site composed entirely in a single flash movie? Or the information you want and the ad are combined in a way that makes them a single object?

    As faster internet connections become come we may start to see moore sites defined in PDF or some similar file type. Sure you can open these up but how much preprocessing do you want your firewall to do?

    I used Mozilla on a Mac a while ago and I swear (much to my surprise) that it was using native widgets. Of course, it uses native menus, but the buttons and scrollbars seemed to be native as well, I played with the system configuration and the changes (like for scroll bar button configuration) seemed to be reflected in Mozilla. If this is the case, it should be easy to use native Aqua controls. Can somebody with a Mac confirm this?

    It's quite possible, yes. Apple have done a pretty good job of making Carbon compliant apps take on the Aqua look automajically. If you are interested there is a good link about Mozilla on OSX here.

    Powerball looks pretty cool but it has some very good competition. Ballard Power Systems has a comprehensive agreement with Millenium Cell. This company uses a water-based solution of sodium borohydride (NaBH4) which is inert and not flammable. When passed across a catalyst it turns into hydrogen and a borate solution, which is collected in a waste tank. The borate solution can be recycled back into sodium borohydride.

    Suitcase? don't be a silly American. We Canadians have always prefered beercase nukes. Cheap, easy to transport, tend to make more friends than enemies, and we consistently build them with higher yields than the American versions.

    Careful, we may have to come down there and get blasted!

    That water probably follows a high tide/low tide like we do, (maybe with not as much enthusiasm, but hey)... Which will erode the rock and strata around it, giving us an excellent way to guage the planets evolution. Just like we do with our ice core samples in Antarctica.

    Keep in mind that "liquid water" doesn't necessarily mean lakes and rivers. Given the atmospheric conditions it is much more likely to mean "dew". If dew forms at all it is most likely to do so in deep canyons since (a) the atmospheric pressure is highest there (Mars has really deep canyons) and (b) deep canyons are more sheltered from the sun and wind and are more likely to have water ice etc. Perhaps some of this manages to liquify rather than subliminate.

    Of course, if there are rivers, just think of the kayaking...
