  1. Bravo Ozzies!! on Australian Linux User Group Fights Back Against SCO · · Score: 5, Insightful
I hope that they put the boots to SCO. Whatever their contributions to Linux as Caldera, this is flat-out extortion, built on as yet unsubstantiated accusations. All this to drive up their stock price and extort money from IBM. No matter what the outcome of this, I will never do business with any future incarnation of SCO ( let's hope there are none) nor with any company that their executives end up leading. I hope that the rest of the community remembers this for a long time to come.

Good advice - if you are a full-time employee who's worked beyond the probationary period. Here in Canada, the employer can fire / lay you off without giving a reason within the first 90 days.
Also, if you're under short-term contract, you're equally vulnerable. They can keep renewing the contract until they no longer need you and then show you the door - even if you do the same job as others
    who are considered headcount.
A great many places used to pay the contract workers
better than the full-time employees but not give them benefits. In today's market, in IT, anyway, they pay you what they think you're likely to accept and work you how they please.
Let's hope that this doesn't last - I've lived through 3 or 4 recessions / downturns in my working life and been unemployed 5 times while my father has never been voluntarily without work.

The reason was that the postal rate for basic lettermail had gone up, typically by 1 or 2 cents, never more than that.
So, what action did they take? If, as is my habit, my return address was on the letter, they return it to me. If I've not put a return address, it becomes, I imagine, undeliverable.
Now, this cannot be the most economical or customer friendly way to deal with it but that's their policy. The same rules should apply to e-mail - policies are chosen for the greater good and then they must be adhered to. Unfortunately, there will always be someone who is either mildly or severely inconvenienced by the rules. C'est la vie.
