  1. Re:Is this really an issue??? on Simulating Cloth in CG · · Score: 1

Imagine you want to look at how something would fit you from a website. Say maybe http://www.jcrew.com/ or http://www.landsend.com/cd/frontdoor/ You might want to put in your body-type and see how the shirt would look on you. As of now companies need to make the clothes in order to see how they will react. This is why there is an entire industry of fit models. (no for the most part they are not hot.) They try on the clothes and then have the designers and production people look at them and say "that underwear needs more lycra, she is looking a little too cheeky." Real world application, yes. Interesting, no.

  8. Heat on Fun With Nanotechnology Advances · · Score: 1

A wire that could self solder seems to me would have a very low heat tolerance. My understanding is the smaller the circuit the less power and heat it would generate. How would this work? What would be the practical applications and what potential failures would it possibly create?

  9. Compatible? on Sega & Nintendo Partnership Just Hype · · Score: 2

Why don't they make the joysticks/controllers and power cords compatible? The interface of the Atari and Colecovision for the controllers was compatible. You could rack up huge scores playing Mr. Do with an Atari joystick. You could even hotswap them.

  10. Old School on Sending Pumpkins Where No Gourd Has Gone Before · · Score: 1

When in Jr. High School we would use the casings of bic pens. We would tape over the hole in the body and cram a bit of potatoe in one end. Force it to the other end with a plunger (usually made of coat hanger) put another piece in and force it towards the first (thusly compressing the air and making it fire). We then reverted to paper. Hooray.

  11. Philosophy on Why Does The Universe Exist? · · Score: 1

Monty Phython also asked if the physical world exists at all. Maybe we are in the martix and this is all a hoax. With reverse time travel impossible we will never get to any good answers.

  12. Robot should have the advantage. on Computer Will Take On Formula 1 Champion · · Score: 1

The Robot watches the light and gets away just that much quicker. The robot watches the rear wheel and controls the wheel spin, same in reverse for braking. It would have anti lock just as a driver would if it could. With the proper input the robot should be quicker. Fuzzy logic anyone?

Humans look for order in all of the unorderly things in the world. (chaos theory anybody). There is a game for PDA's called Vexed that I have dreamed about, both asleep and wake. Luckily the game only took up about 4 hours of my life to finish.

  15. Star trek on First Great Star Trek PC Game? · · Score: 1

  17. to hack or not on Boycott of Music Industry's Hacker Challenge Urged · · Score: 1

Firstly, $10k is not alot of money. If it is that safe why not put up $100k. If the question was put another way like, we will pay $10k if you find a security breach in our work, would the response be different? Hacking is the mechanical life in the machine of software. Failure can happen where you least expect it.
