  1. Not far fetched on Girl Claims Price Scanner Gave Her Tourette's Syndrome · · Score: 3, Funny

Electronics causing (or at least triggering) a genetic disorder? It happens a lot. I know several people who have developed Tourettes after a few short hours of Mario Kart.

    "stop, unless you absolutely can't".

I always heard yellow meant "stop, if it is safe to do so." But as we have seen, these yellow lights are causing more accidents than they are preventing, by no fault of the people driving. Yellow lights are not meant to make people choose between getting a ticket or being rear-ended. All this just to raise money for the county.

  3. More like on Rupert Murdoch Hates Google, Loves the iPad · · Score: 1

disgust at how search engines handle news and called on old media to rethink how their stories are distributed on the web.

"We must find a way to keep Google from posting our public stories and linking them to our website.

Murdoch added that the iPad was a 'wonderful tool' for listening to music, watching videos and reading newspapers.

Just not at the same time....

by making it cheaper to distribute content to a broader audience

Cheaper for the corporation, but then they can jack up the prices because ohh, look how big the screen is. Oooohhh and it does stuff when i touch it!

the featureset makes it seem like it'd be a good spot between e-reader and netbook

isn't that like saying apple's discovered a new meal between breakfast and brunch? i guess some people may enjoy it, while others find it unnecessary.

The entrenched ISPs would kill off any such company.

I agree that at this stage it would be extremely difficult for any company to come along and offer no filtering, etc...and not be swallowed up. unless maybe that company had a huge stake in the internet itself, and was recently starting to offer much faster connection speeds at comparable prices to the current corporations. My hope here is that maybe Google can leverage their power for a more neutral internet. This is of course assuming google won't jump on the bandwagon and offer better connections to websites using their ad service...

  7. Need new ISP on FCC Relying On Faulty ISP Performance Data · · Score: 2, Funny

I guess I need a new ISP. According to the article there is roughly 17% of the population who at any given time is getting MORE bandwidth from their ISP than what they're paying for? Is that right? Did I misread the article? I'm sure comScore would have at least put me in a much lower tier than what I pay for. Something here doesn't seem right.
