Tolkien himself constructed a number of languages.
For example:

The english language is not a static item.
English was the compounding of the existing languages of 3-4 different cultures. Cultures being the important word here.
L33t sp34k is from the computre/hacker(as the jargon file defines it)/internet subculture.
And as this subculture has risen to prominence so will the artifacts of their typed form of english.
I took my 14 year old with me to this movie and we both really enjoyed it. But, I know that, in time he will only remember the awesome effects and near perfectly synced movie score. Those are the seeds that will fuel his imagination (nostalgia) and not the forgettable story line.
Imagination works the best when we have to fill in the rest of story for ourselves.
BS. I saw this type of behavior in Down Town Wisconsin Dells this summer. People would just start randomly crossing the road willy nilly and expect all traffic to stop on a dime for them. Including the semi driving the 30mph speed limit.
If a city wants peds to cross a road like on purpose they should just close that road to vehicle traffic. Period.
Just because some stupid idea got passed as a law does not mean that it was a sane, rational and needed law that needed to be made.
I think it's more of sign that the geographic language barriers are starting to erode as more people use the internet as their main source for communication. One of the main reasons that languages diverged was due to geographic barriers. People on either sides of large mountains, deserts, bodies of water often have different vocabulary, accents, "colorful metaphors" etc. even if the two groups came from the same root stock. You'll find large changes in just 1-2 generations.
One of the great benefits of the internet is that we are not being distracted by accents (for the most part, and it's usually obvious when someone is trying to re-create a local accent when typing).
People that are not afraid to play with their own languages and with others are often learning more about how we communicate than those that rigidly follow accepted grammar and sent building conventions.
Language can also be used by the ruling "elite" to keep the hoi polloi in check. For example look at just some of the laws of this land. Many of them are written in such a way so that the common people have no hope in hell of comprehending that their rights/freedoms are being eroded.
I like how this post appears to have been generated from this blog: http://holyfuckingshit40000.blogspot.com/2010/09/final-final-verdict-on-flac-vs-mp3.html

That dust was just "bit rot". You know that left over pieces of data that are left on hard drives that have not yet been entirely written over.
