you don't have to read news meant for people that DON'T pay for news.
The kind of information that's in free news sites (Fox, HuffingtonPost, CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, etc..) is VERY different from paid news sites.
Free, advertiser supported news is the horribly written and generally meant for 3rd graders, and is rather useless. I don't even know why people bother with free news sites. You get about 1 sentence of actual information, which is usually just a SEO friendly link-bait headline, and the rest is just filler junk, if it contains anything at all. There's so little value in their content. You can skim just the headlines, and you'll get the basics.
Paid sites tend to have longer articles, with more information per article, bigger pictures, videos, more research, etc...
I fully expect newspapers to regain footing when they start to figure out that they don't have to compete against free headline news sites because people find them generally useless.
A single shared folder is the worst possible idea. That is too PC-centric, and relies on files instead of systematic end-use goals. Apple is looking at a more advanced use model than what programmers are used to.
If you want a hint at their direction, check out how the iLife apps transfer songs and pics between each other - they transfer standard object types only. My guess is that Apple will increase the support of various other standard objects within iOS.
I wouldn't waste money on all the junk VLC formats. H264 does everything, at a higher quality. Convert your files to that format, and your complaints go away.
The apple solution is to pick the best codec, and let others catch up to the format.
The quicker we can kill off these junk formats, the better off we are. Let's make sure we only support hardware that does H264 only.
Actually, it was $920 with dents and bumps on the case, and a DVD drive that didn't work because of rough handling. Other versions of the same product were going for several hundred more on Ebay.
The resale value on MacBook Pros are amazing. If you buy any other laptop, you're just pissing away money.
the best part about the price I got was that the case had bumps and dents and the DVD player didn't work after getting banged up, yet it still commanded such a high price.
Other laptops are completely worthless compared to Apple products. You might as well flush your money down the toilet if you don't buy an Apple laptop.
GO back to your free-market corporation.
WE liberals will go ahead and continue to run government according to socialist principles.
The less freedom-loving libertarians, the better. (hint: it's because freedom is code-word for corporate control.)
Solar and wind don't cut it now
Explain yourself.
What's stopping anyone from building a 10 billion dollar wind farm to replace their 10 billion dollar nuclear plant?
Is there a technological problem? Is it less efficient?
Just because no one bothered to spend 10-100 billion on the new system doesn't mean it's not possible.
Otherwise, wind & solar are perfectly fine replacements for all other power sources.
And how is government limiting the public's freedom a problem?
The less freedom the public has, the better.
Crime doesn't come from density, but from poor people.
Manhattan has surprisingly low crime now that rent starts at $1800/month, instead of $80/month like it used to be in the 70's.
Really?
You think a free market makes things better?
Seriously?
so, this is why we need net neutrality, so that ISPs don't charge based on content type (iPhone data vs. tethered data).
You don't need a discrete GPU for any of that. They're not even computationally intensive.
Computationally intensive = 4 hours for a simulation.

My guess is that theyll put together a database structure, similiar to what the iLife apps use to transfer data between apps.

Why would anyone waste their money on a PC?

Hahah your computer sucks compared to the superior Apple product.
I'm not AC, and I say the MacBook is the best you can get.
There is nothing better in the industry.
Happy?
It's because there is a sensitive care-bear audience within slashdot.
They get upset everytime someone likes Apple, because Apple products are awesome, and theirs is bad.
The quicker apple can bankrupt other tech companies, the better, so we don't get any more people wasting time with other systems.
Totally amused by the Linux/Windows dorks going apeshit at any Apple praise.
Face it dude, the Apple products are better than what you use.
Cry away. You'll get over it.
These MacBook Pro's are the top laptops in the industry. There is nothing better.
This refresh is almost as fast as my 8-core Nehalem Xeon Mac Pro, which is rather incredible.
All great products have high resale value... I just sold my 4 year old MacBook Pro 17" for $920.
Because LED lighting will own the market in a few years.
You're comparing against bars, when you should be comparing against other websites.
How many murders did meetup.com enable?
Sometimes you need a competitor to find public faults with its competition.
No, this is a report finding fault with Craigslist in enabling murders and other crimes.
You will notice that it doesn't find fault in other websites, like meetup.com.
Craigslist is at fault, possibly by it's design.
Why does craigslist have so many murders, but meetup.com doesn't?
