You missed my point. I restated the golden rule: treat others as you would have them treat you. It's not about getting something out of it (preferential treatment by the government), it's about doing the right thing.
So, how do you reconcile your response with the ages-old Q/A, "How can you tell when a politician is lying?" "His lips are moving." ???
Hi, thanks for that. Wasn't really a joke per se; it was the observation that you concluded with, which caused the OP to enter fits. Sad, really, to see. He wasn't being "too specific"; he was mischaracterizing the operation. Oh well; perhaps he learned something.
And on container vessels: there is much much more volume of cargo going from China to the US and EU than the other way around, and liners routinely ship empty containers all the way back to China.
This bothers me. Why does China contain raw materials that are better than those contained in North America? The answer is that it doesn't; it's that the politics have made it cheaper to ship products from there, than to create them here. So my scientific nature would state that the politics are the part that is inefficient. And that scares me, because if science is against my politics, then we're doomed.
Of course, the other aspect to it is that China is developing nanotechnology spy devices, and are first encouraging the world to accept shipment of its trinkets. Which later will have these embedded in them, just as they've recently had melamine embedded in the pet foods.
Passion is often mistaken for anger. It is different; there is logic behind my words and actions. Thank you for the reference, I am watching it now. (Link, for others.)
Most forms of energy healing have either a geometric or exponential effect when more human bodies are added to the healing process (I haven't experimented enough to say, but it's definitely more than an arithmetic progression). Yes, by all means, do as much as you can yourself; and try to find people of like minds so that you can benefit each other, without needing to pay a "special master". Personally, I have used (and felt) Jin Shin Jyutsu, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). The former is holding parts of the body and deep breathing; the latter is tapping a spot on the body several times before moving to the next spot. The former tends to help more with general health; the latter, with emotional issues; although both overlap, since their root is energy and exchanging of atmosphere -- most energy healing modalities include deep breathing, and even "just prayer" includes the clasping of hands, through which the energy flows strongest.
As we develop more ways to get stem cells, their hobbling of the US medical field becomes moot [...]
I'm sorry, no, no it does not. People died because our society was slowed down by mythological thinking. Your defense of their behavior sounds like the "broken window fallacy".
I forget whether the requirement is six months or a year after publication - until then, it remains exclusive to Nature Publishing Group - but eventually it will be freely available.
Sounds like a mini-copyright is present in scientific publications.
so: "metro-ization" > "metrosexual" > "homosexual" > queer eye
I get it now, but that's quite a few leaps:)
Was not to me; that was the first thing I thought of. Similar to when Microsoft's Server division had a new release which had an advertising campaign focused on "You're In Control". (Me, I always thought you'rein control was hitting the toilet with your stream...)
Only in the fevered imaginings of fundamentalists are scientists drawing the conclusion from scientific evidence and methods that god doesn't exist. They just don't do that, because by and large they know that this would be absurd.
Just as absurd, of course, as advocating the positive position of divine existence. Which is something the fundamentalists (fevered or not) do daily.
Surely the purpose of law is not to give cover to psychopaths as they prey on the weak?
Oh, I don't know about that. We have many laws making audio recording of interactions with public officials illegal. Of course; those audio recordings could help to show wrongdoing by those public officials. What other reason would they want to have no evidence of their actions, which evidence could exonerate them?
Similarly, there seems to be a distressingly high rate of failure, during critical times, of the officers' dash cameras. Personally I see this as destruction of evidence, but then IA apparently doesn't. Anyway, yes, the purpose of law is to give cover to psychopaths in power.
That's one thing that really has puzzled me. If evolution is so right, it's almost a fact, then why does an alternative method threaten you guys into a point of hysteria?
It's not that there's an alternative theory that might be superior. It's that there's an alternative theory that might sway reptilian brains which are not as trained (and/or, perhaps, "gifted") in the ways of science, that is terrorizing our intelligent sector. Because "being superior" in this realm is not the same as being scientifically superior. (Just as a virus that kills its host is still "superior".)
However, the current crop of scientific and fiscal illiterates (Ron Paul [...])
Please explain how Ron Paul is scientifically and fiscally illiterate? I find him the most literate in both these areas, so some illumination would clearly show which of us is correct.
Most people believe that voting is a fundamental right, not something we remove simply because someone has beliefs we think are crazy.
What, like cannabis cures cancer, so I want to spread it far and wide? And therefore get a felony drug charge, and lose my enfranchisement? Yeah, right, crazy beliefs. (I agree with the relative-intelligence-versus-agreement argument.)
It kinda makes you wonder whether we'd be better off being governed by machines too, doesn't it?
I don't wonder, not at all. I do, however, know that we have the wrong set of laws to live by. These are laws to govern by. There's a world of difference; the governing don't want to live by the same laws that they impose on the governed. With machine governance, all humans must obey the same laws. Yeah, the meat sacks running the MIC would never go for it.
Re-reading my post, and my signature: I wonder if Watson will be voted to death. Or, in other words, if the medical-industrial complex will proactively eliminate any threats to their revenue.
There is just a lot of stuff about the human body that we don't know....
Which leads me to wonder: will Watson begin to recommend specific Jin Shin Jyutsu exercises to self-heal parts of the body, or a regimen of EFT to resolve the trauma of a loved one dying?
Much better than old Dr. Smith with his eyes, hands, ears and brain.
My real-life Dr. Smith was hard of hearing, and I chose not to inform the entire staff and present patients of my maladies, so grabbed a different primary care physician. So, agree on all but the ears.:)
With a longer period between trades, I understand people may feel uneasy about the commitment, but I think that's exactly what it should mean to "invest." However, if it's a big enough deal to people, then perhaps you could also have a (shorter) window for backing out (with perhaps a small penalty).
Someone else mentioned taxation, and I think that would be a better solution than "you must keep your equity for X increments of time", especially on a sliding scale: hold for less than a second, tax is 90%; less than a minute, tax is 80%; less than an hour, tax is 70%; less than a day, tax is 60%; less than a week, tax is 50%; etc. The timing and percentages might need tweaking but the idea is to provide an incentive to hold for longer periods of time, while allowing those who could still profit from their trades to make money, and have a larger tax burden, which both discourages the shorter-term trades, and also helps us to pay our national debt. It can be argued that it's them that got us into this mess, so it makes sense for them to pay to get us out.

Yeah, but now days, I'll just use beer and porn. Easier on the system then fantasy.
Spend some time with a heart rate monitor, and you'll only need beer.
Just curious; how do you "leave space for frequently changing files to contract"?

If prayer works, do it yourself.

Ah, okay, thanks -- you are generally correct, so that stood out to me. Thanks for explaining!

At least that is where exotic elements like Uranium, Gold, Silver, and just about everything heavier than Oxygen have come from.
Agree with everything else you said -- but it's Iron, not Oxygen, that is the heaviest element that can be created through stellar fusion processes.

One of the first things I learned on the Internet was that the compound C3O is stable in gas glouds.
Hmm. Add a phosphate, and you get a translator droid?
Thanks! Most of my ideas (of late) are similarly well-rounded; comes from years of weather, I suppose. :)
