  1. My Growing Concern.. on The PS2 - A Betamax In the Making? · · Score: 1

In most markets competition is good, because it forces companies to improve their products because naturally they want the *best* products. But when it comes to gamoing systems, I'm concerned, because the market gets spread out, and if developers sign contractial agreements spread out among the systems, our quality and vast selection of games decrease. Naturally, most people cannot afford to buy more than one gaming system. It simply doesn't make sense. But if we limit ourselves to one system, we also limit our spectrum of games.. hence the reason I probably will buy neither a PS2, and X-Box, a Dreamcast, or a Nintendo Whateva. I'll stick to PC Games, thank you. Basically those sytems are all turning into stripped PC's anyway. Well, thanks for bearing with me, I had to get my opinion out.

  2. There Must Be Some Connection... on Interview With Gary Gygax About Game Violence · · Score: 1

In movies, guts and gore just don't seem to bother me anymore. And with games, it seems the entire purpose of games like Quake is to advocate violence. Basically, because the violence doesn't bother you anymore, you don't mind it. Personally, I think it sadistic. I don't want to see bodies being blown up anymore. It was exciting at first, but I've had enough. What's the purpose of increasing violent content except to entertain the cretins?

hmmm... I want my curiosity cured~ what are the origins of "adamantine?" Is it a real mineral or fictional? I dunno. I just remember adamant armor from final fantasy and it made me think. X-men and Final Fantasy didn't make it up? Where'd it come from?

  4. Re:humm on Sony VP On Stopping Napster · · Score: 1

EVERYONE uses Napster. Kids, adults, computer-savvy, and I'm sure even Steve Heckler indulge in its goodness. This is the worst public announcement I have seen in a while; it makes Sony Entertainment look like the greedy, beaurocratics corporation that they are. I will never buy a sony CD again. Fuck record companies. Since Napster/Gnutella's emergence, my CD purchasing has doubled. Now I don't think I will buy a major-label CD again. Fuck Them.

  5. I actually took offense to this article... on Attacking Open Source · · Score: 1

When I first read this article, I thought, "this guy is just trying to create a little steam.." and it made me angry. Open source has been one the most revolutionary and liberal computer policies of all time. I never post, but I feel strongly about this one.. I am a journalist, and this article seemed like poor journalism to me. I respect the opinions of everybody, but he uses references that make no sense.. such as open source being "all hype and speculation and no fundamentals" What sort of fundamentals is he referring to? He is trash talking the movement yet he has no physical evidence of any harm that open-source has caused. (Not to mention the fact that he avoids sobjects such as the beauty of Apache and how crappy the internet would be without it) And what sort of goods is he looking for? He never actually states... I think he is referring to profit.. sure open-source software isn't the best when it comes to economics, but it is a very forward way of thinking.
