So Unity is a shell developed by Gnome, but it is not the true Gnome shell? What is the point of this? Why not just stick with what has made Ubuntu the most popular distribution of Linux. This to me is one of the flaws of Linux, nobody can make up their mind. Once a distro decides to use a certain shell stick with it. New users don't want to have to learn multiple shells. This way when a user picks a certain distro they know what they are getting in the form of a shell.
How many Ubuntu users who are not computer geeks, but enjoy open source are going to pissed off once Unity is rolled out and their desktop looks completely different one day?
I use my phone for music now and it support drag and drop... I just posted about my experience with Sony portable music players, which ended about 7 years ago now at least.
The walkman may still be relevant in the portable music department if Sony didn't force the ATRAC3 format down it's users throats.
I for one was a big supporter of the Walkman back in my highschool days and went through a couple players just from wear and tear. I skipped over the discman because I like making mix tapes and the discman was bulky and would drain batteries quickly. Once the Net walkman came out, I jumped on that because of it's size and Sony's rep for making quality walkmans. At the time of purchase I had no idea users had to use Sonic Stage to transfer music. Sonic Stage was just about the worst software I have ever used. Users were forced to use this garbage software to copy music to the player and during the process all their music was then converted to ATRAC3. The process was so painful and slow that once you had music on your player, you never wanted to change it just to avoid using Sonic Stage. Needless to say, once that netwalkman died I never replaced it and haven't gone back to Sony since.
I remember when I had a 100MB hard drive and I thought; "I'll never fill this!". Then I had a 1GB hard drive and thought it would be impossible to fill. Now I have a 1TB drive and I am filling it. There will always be bigger and faster hard drives. One day we will look back at that new massive drive 3TB drive and think; "How did I ever deal with such a finite amount of space?"
What percentage of the individuals who find a bug are currently on work time? If 10% of found bugs are on work time then they may not be able to accept cash from another company while being paid by their current employer. Discovering a bug on work time just means you are doing your job.
I don't see the problem with downloading TV shows that have already been broadcast. I do it because I can't stand watching a show like "Lost" where there is 5 minutes of show then 3 minutes of commercials. So I would rather just download it the next day and watch it in HD commercial free.
I am not in the business of making DVD's of the episodes I download and then selling them. I just download it to watch it commercial free. I already pay for my internet connection and I pay for cable TV.
The same goes for Movies. I mostly download old movies, if I really want to see a new movie I will go to the theatre and see it on a big screen. Otherwise I am downloading old movies. What is the difference of me downloading a movie from 3 years ago, or watching it on TV? Sure the cable company paid for the rights to show that movie, but I also pay the cable company for my internet connection. In the end the cable company is still getting my money. Which in turn the cable company pays for the rights of the movie.
The 2K baseball games are horrible. They are full of bugs and totally unrealistic. I picked up 2K7 out of a clearance bin a couple years ago and in my second game playing I struck out 23 batters. 23 out of a possible 27 outs were strikes outs. No, I wasn't pitching as Randy Johnson or someone like that, I was pitching as Ted Lilly!!
If you want a real challenge, pick up MLB: The Show. Overall a more realistic baseball game, and you definately won't be throwing a perfect game after an hour of playing.
They really aren't all that noisy at all. I currently live 400 Meters away from a cluster of 4 Wind turbines, each 450 feet tall. On days where the wind is light, you can't hear them unless you are under 100 meters away. On Windy days (50Km/h or so) you can hear them, but it is so windy anyway you mostly hear the wind gusting.
Many apps that run on IE 6 will not run correctly on IE 7 (not even thinking about IE8 yet). It can cost a company millions of dollars to upgrade or redevelop their proprietary applications and for what? Tabs? A fully patched IE 6 is just as secure as IE7, so why upgrade?
I think many companies will skip over IE 7 and go straight to IE 8 when they upgrade machines from XP to Win7.
In my day, entertainment on long drives was looking out the window and making up games as we went. Kids are already exposed to enough television and other mindless entertainment. Do they really need to have their own iPad for the occasional long drive? Maybe they should try looking out the window and experiencing the world in which they live.

Wombats are also herbivores... so I don't think sucking blood is really of any interest to them.

Nothing to see here, move along...
