  1. Re:Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes on Microsoft To Support SSH In Windows and Contribute To OpenSSH · · Score: 0

Horribly complex and unintuitive. I've never bothered to even try looking into it. I don't know why anybody would choose a CLI where single commands are entire paragraph unto themselves.

  2. Yay! More acronym buzzwords! on Is Agile Development a Failing Concept? · · Score: 0

I think it's been dead for years. I think it's time we came up with a new buzzword acronym just to pad our resumes.

  3. Been there, done that. on Intel Cites Breakthrough In Transistor Design · · Score: 1

    Look here - http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/cn/20011126/tc/intel_ transistors_fight_the_power_1.html

The article states that they'll be using pre-existing IBM technology, which Intel had previously said wouldn't work. Now they're going to be using it as if it's a brand new idea.

Well put!!! I think that's exactly the appeal for me too. And looking at Ben Browder for an hour is icing on the cake. He's not normally my type, but I guess I identify with the character more often than not (although they've been downplaying the techie geek thing over the past season) The female characters are hot too (all three). I'm going to FanCon in Springfield, MA in November, and I can't wait to see what Virginia Hey looks like with hair :-) I hear she's really hot in real life.

  6. Goes with the Magic Blue Smoke on IBM Increases HD Density with "Pixie Dust" · · Score: 4

I've always known they put Magic Blue Smoke into computer components. It's undetectable, but you can definitely prove it's there. When you let the Magic Blue Smoke out of the device, the device doesn't work anymore. This goes for anything that uses electricity. :-)

  7. I've said it 100*x times before, I'll say it x++ on Best Device For Gesture Based Input? · · Score: 1

I REALLY want my touch-sensitive screen. I've been wanting one for a long time, but they're few and far between, as well as $$$$$ Instead of point-and-click, I JUST WANT TO POINT!!! It just seems intuitively obvious that we've designed GUIs to act like hyper-newspaper. Just go the extra step! We're close - PDAs have it. Soon... very soon... (Maybe in my lifetime please?)

  8. Not coming up often enough?!?!? on The End Of The Paperclip · · Score: 1

They must be out of their heads! My coworkers and I have to disable that dumb thing every time we open any Office application because the settings don't get saved. Every other word you type in MS Word, that stupid paper clip pops up! One coworker was fighting with the thing for half an hour this morning because it kept doing dumb tricks right in the middle of the screen and wouldn't move. I helped him disable it, and don't you know it took two entire minutes for the thing to finish running around before quitting?!? Good riddance to bad rubbish!!!

Your comment is along the same lines as the phone company. Call them up and ask them what "Anonymous Call Blocking" is really about. They'll tell you that they can't block anonymous calls from telemarketers, but they *can* block calls from your friends who have their caller ID blocked.
Also, if you have them block your caller ID from going out, they'll tell you they won't block it when you dial toll-free or 900 numbers (hence giving your unlisted phone number to telemarketers).

  10. Re:Migration/Transition issues on Eidola - Programming Without Representation · · Score: 1

This is true - if migration weren't an issue, then the entire software industry would have switched to Ada in the mid-80's. It's a good language, but too many people already knew C and didn't want to learn a new language.

  11. Sounds like the companies I've worked for... on Space Shuttle Software: Not For Hacks · · Score: 1

The whole point of the Palm is simplicity. A previous post mentions that if we keep adding stuff to the device, it will take longer to "boot". I agree with that. KISS - Keep It Simple, Stupid!
