Praise in public - counsel in private. Don't ever put one of your people down in front of his/her peers.
Make sure they have the resources they need; one of your primary jobs is clearing any roadblocks they might have.
Communicate: up, down, and laterally. If your boss ever turns to you in a meeting and says "I hadn't heard that.", you screwed up. There's NO SUCH THING as a good surprise to your boss.
Don't worry about whether your staff like you or not. It's not part of your job description, and if you worry about it, you'll be paralyzed with indecision. Besides, if you do your job well, they at least won't DISLIKE you.
Yeah, but at least it's documented. The Phillips code ( http://www.qsl.net/ae0q/phillip1.htm ) was a set of abbrevations used to speed communIcations when you had to spell wds ltr by ltr. ths ws b4 fone...
I started using the devel kernels on three of my machines at 2.3.42. It ran fine, a few of the later versions had compile problems for me, so I just skipped them. I'm currently on 2.3.49, and it runs fine. 2.3.50 fails with a compile error. I'll give 2.3.51 a shot.
I think they're more than good enough for non-critical boxes. YMMV, of course.
Some changes in your ergonomic "environment" can do wonders: three years ago I was eating ibuprofin every four hours, due to numbness in both hands, and stabbing pains in my right wrist, caused by constant typing. Thanks to an understanding safety officer at work, I got an ergonomic keyboard, glidepoint mouse, keyboard tray, and chair with arms that could be adjusted to support my elbows, taking the weight off of my shoulders. The result? After a couple of months most of the pain is gone. Today I can type all day long with no pain (okay, the tips of my fingers sometimes get numb from the glidepoint pad). These changes rescued my career; as an IS manager, I don't do anything that DOESN'T have to do with typing. I've since converted all 4 computers at home to the same keyboard: Cirque Wave Keyboard. Even my wife, who suffered from shoulder pain when at the keyboard, as improved substantially. Treat your body right, and it'll treat you right.. Hope this helps. - Orv - w6bi@arrl.net

Checking with Netscape 4.7 on RedHat Linux 6.1, the FAFSA pages I checked came up fine. I didn't go into the online aid application secion.
It appears that they've fixed it.

I BELIEVE I read on Kernel Traffic that they'd identified this as a problem, and had a fix in 2.2.2pre4.
Hope that helps..
