  1. Screw up on Pre-Beta Slackware 4.0 · · Score: 1

Speaking of Slackware, I'm running a 3.5 partition at home, and one day I rebooted and after I logged in, my prompt was simply "$". it looked like all my executables were dos file and I couldn't execute anything. It is still like that and I don't know why. The last thing I had done I believe is to attempt to install Bashprompt, which I failed at doing for some reason. Anyone had any experience with this?

Having some trouble here, thought someone here might be able to help out. I am trying to install redhat 5.2 from a cd i burned, and when it trys to detect my cd, the cdrom drive itself locks up (won't open) and the install program stalls. i then tried copying the redhat/base and redhat/rpms dirs to my win98 partition but when setup tries to scan the packages, it gives an error opening directory or something. can anyone offer me some relief? if not, can anyone tell me how i can download do a basic install of debian 2.1 and make it go out on the internet and download everything else? and if that's not feasible, what all do i need to download to create a CD?

    Thanks!

Well how about chess, hearts, spades, checkers, poker, slot machines? All these things were made up by /someone/ but that doesn't mean that I can't carve checkers out of wood and play in back yard or sell my homemade checker set if I wish. Frivilous law suits should be punished by the plaintif paying for all court costs as well as a fine like some countries do. It just backs up the legal system so that murderers and and rapists are not brought to justice as quickly as the should be.
