I've read the summary, and the linked article, and from both I didn't get the whole "bankrupt" thing. If you're going to present new information, at least link a source so we can verify.
I did see where Pebble went bankrupt and Fitbit bought its assets (last month), but I have seen no such news on Vector. Could you please link to a source for your claim?
You say that like a zombie Liberal. But the Liberals are the worst at censorship and using the Mob to diminish the rights of individuals. Except for the kinds of rights they like and only for the groups they like. Everyone else is "Basket of Deplorables" for daring to think outside the Leftwing Echo Chamber.
First they came for 200 GB users, I was not a 200 GB User, so I did nothing. Then they came for 100 GB users, and I was not a 100 GB User, so I did nothing Then they came for 50 GB Users, and I was not a 50 GB users, so I did nothing. Then they came for me, and millions like me, and we all cried like babies.
So when a dude stands on a car and shouts "Burn this bitch down" and it gets burned down by rioters, is he arrested?
And just for your reference, I am fairly militant about my freedom to express myself (and you express yourself). And the 1st Amendment is fairly clear until the damn lawyers get in the way...
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
IF you are unable, because there are laws that prevent it, of expressing yourself, you're already captive of someone else. The collective doesn't have the right to diminish the thoughts and expressions of its members.
Laws that limit freedom of expression are tyrannical in nature, and eventually no speech is free. Anti-Discrimination free speech laws are completely out of control "Dynamic" is prohibited in job postings, because... it is... code for "no black people". No, I am not making that shit up. Talk about racist bullshit, black people can't by dynamic?? WHAT???
The greatest threat to our liberties are people crying "There ought to be a law" and make it so.
Why don't they just allow the user to CHANGE all of these things to our own liking
They are fighting two different markets: Corporate (Monoculture) and Home (Individual)
In a corporate environment, you want everything to look/feel the same on every computer in every location. It makes for faster training and much easier to support. On the other hand, it sucks for people who want to have things setup for them and the way they work. If you allowed "change" then it would fuck up the Corporate Workstation. If you don't allow change, people like me who customize their systems for three days before they can actually work well on a new computer.
Granted, I can actually work on a standardized workstation easy enough, but if I get on someone's workstation, and they have customized everything to shit, I find it hard to get shit done. My problem with every change to the UI, is the stupid changes that don't make any sense, except for moving shit around to confuse us all. Moving the login/logoff/shutdown bits from the lower left corner to the upper right (Win8) was for what reason? After 25 years?
I just looked at the www.nytimes.com and found the article linked on the front page, not actually ON the front page. Here is the whole tidbit as it appears on the Front Page of the NY TIMES website... as of 11:25 PST.
The Chicago police questioned four black people after a video circulated of a white teenager who was tied up and beaten by a group shouting anti-white messages
Yeah, it is a "non-story" buried so far down the page (and off to the side) that it is being covered, but as minimally as possible.
I am not going to change your opinion, I realize that.
Looks more like self loathing liberals who can't really afford to come out of the closet and making shit up to sound "Republican". I mean, after all Trump is a Racist, Bigot, Homophobe, but the four Chicago assholes torturing a guy with mental deficiencies is... a non-story. He deserved it being "white" and because Trump is a racist.
5GHz isn't shitty. It doesn't go through walls very well, but that is a different story. The shitty Band is the 2.4 GHz, which if you live anywhere civilized is crowded to the point of being non-functional. I can see at least a dozen 2.4 GHz WiFi APs on my scanner while sitting in my living room. I can see exactly three 5 GHz, with several bands available (no usage).
While coverage isn't great, the bands are more or less free from everyone else's crap.
The future is already here, in the form of ARM CPUs. They are pretty much without a whole lot of the baggage the INTEL processors have, even if it is "emulated" at this point. There were a few good break points that were possible during the long run of the x86 where Intel could have dropped legacy support, but failed to do so.
Why would politicians care about what people think of them? They get elected over and over again. Most people can't stand politicians, but their own isn't too bad, it is everyone else's that is horrible.
I don't know about you, but I am pretty sure that there is good reason to NOT believe government agencies (like the FBI) are not fully working FOR the American people.
It is acceptable to me. Your opinion is different, and I get that, but blanket statements like this are almost always untrue.
These "Smart" TVs are incremental "feature" upgrades to regular TVs. They literally cost a small transaction difference in price to similar but non-smart TVs. That small incremental price difference is a huge profit center for the manufacturers. It literally costs them next to nothing to install, and increases the price $100. This feature differentiator is key to driving profits up, so much so, that they probably make the two models completely identically in the factory, and disable/enable features based on the price point they want.
If you don't want or need a SmartTV, then don't get one. If you want one, then investigate a bit more than spur of the moment shopping decision, which is exactly what they are expecting. Get a ROKU or Googlecast (Chromecast) or build your own RaspberryPi version.
Speaking of RaspberryPi, why didn't the "Programmer" have one of those setup to do the "SmartTV" bits in the first place??
They have proven voter fraud in this last election. No, I am not talking about fictional "Russian" hacking, I am talking about complete and utter incompetence or malfeasance in several areas, exposed by the bullshit Recall orchestrated on behalf of the DNC and Clinton campaign by Jill Stein. We're talking huge problems in largely democrat voting precincts. Can't really blame any of that on Republicans or Russians, and the MSM didn't see it fit to report.
While I don't know if your point was sarcasm or not, the fact is, election fraud does happen, does happen a lot, we just don't have enough checks in the system to catch it. Heaven forbid we actually do what Mexico does, or India and require people to show up at the polls, and have proper ID. That is way to inconvenient for our nonchalance.

Right, because Tyranny or Anarchy are the ONLY two choices.

Yeah, this is what happens when you lose balance in the State Government. Eventually it will implode within its own echo chamber.

Top Story .. "RUSSIANS HACKED THE ELECTION" proves this point completely false. Care to try again?
You are basically suggesting that the Uncanny Valley has a 3D component to it. I would agree.
the 3D did not add much value at all to me
This, right here, is why THREE D is not much more than a novelty. Until we get actual holodecks ... there just isn't enough value added.

It does do something ... It allows stupid legislators to say they did something. Remember the following logic is all that is needed.
We must do something!
This is something!
Therefore we must do it!!!!!!!
Implied is, "Anyone that opposes this is an evil hater who wants to kill you and eat kittens"
Yes, we need another useless law that will not have anyone convicted any time soon, just so stupid legislators can say "See, we are protecting you!"
Right up there with Assault Rifle bans because ... "SCARY LOOKING!!!!!"
editors can't be bothered to proofread anything
Welcome to Slashdot, you must be new here! ;) (yes, this is a joke)
Take a look at Cavium ... 48 cores x 64bit at 2.5 ghz.

It isn't nuanced once it becomes a pattern.

What is utter BS?
Mexico and India manage to have Voter IDs for everyone, are you saying it is impossible for Americans to get voter IDs?
Or ... perhaps you're saying Black people are too stupid to get them because they don't know where the DMV is?
