Geez.. calm down everyone.. it was just a statement. And to the general public (who have seen Jurassic Park), that is a statement that they adhere to. It's optimistic and hopeful and just the candy-coated dribble that everyone wants to believe will happen. Don't yell at those with dreamy-eyed views of the utopian future. We will all live in harmony and peace....without the tse-tse fly, of course.

The guy above is right. My boyfriend works in human resources in Computing Systems department at University of Pittsburgh. He hires all the student workers that run the labs. And he will not hire anyone who doesn't have at least bare minimum social skills. It doesn't matter how much experience you have in tech, if you can't talk to the people then he won't hire you. oh and BTW he has a CS/Business degree and is going for his MBA. And he is an excellent manager (speaking from experience, I worked for him before we were dating).

How about the blatent examples of Microsoft stealing code: windows?? basic?? Come one people. Like this doesn't happen in the real world?

Of course, he is being rewarded handsomely for this. What does that say about our culture?

It's not that they are being taught to not go for help. If they need help, I'm sure that a TA or even a professor will help them. That is NOT the same as copying. Copying is not going for help it's looking for the answer and not thinking about how to get to the answer. Cheating doesn't *help*. It makes the assignment easier but it is not helping.

And to the prof that assigned the same problems as the previous year. You kinda asked for it. Make it difficult for them to cheat. If one roommate takes a class one semester and says it's easy and she has the answers to all the tests, homeworks, and quizzes. More than likely the other roommate will take it the next semester and use the answers and solutions. You asked for it. You want them to be creative. *YOU* be creative.

Why would someone pay for something that is moderately better (and in some cases WORSE!) when they have a perfectly acceptable *free* version already available? I don't know... but millions of people buy Microsoft products. Ask them.

How is this flame bait?? He's right! There are so many groups that promote mp3s and they aren't seeing a declining of sales t(this has been metioned more than once, I know) in fact, have you ever been to The Perfect Song Facsimile? It has every freakin' live song and other rarities out there.. and do you think it detracts from people buying radiohead cds? No. I know of a lot of people buying cds just because of downloading it off of this guy's site. This is just a stupid thing metallica and the RIAA are pulling.. and I am kinda sick of hearing about it..

If we are still harping about this in the year 4800 I will have lost hope for humans..
