It's really not clear to me why so many posters are upset that you'd like to try something. Most likely they're just excited to have an opportunity to be bombastic and feel superior - If they really feel that its such a waste of time, they wouldn't spend more time posting about what a waste of time it is.
My only advice would be to keep it simple - you'll probably come up with nothing, but you can at least limit the variety of confounding factors. Develop a simple hypothesis and use simple tests. And have fun.
