I've set up my own webserver using cable, they block the ports 1024, and the rest they scan frequently... But there is something called "PortSentry" that detects when someone scans your ports, and completely hides them from the scanner, turning your ip in a sort of black hole... Very nice indeed!;-)
BeOS runs just like a windows program ( at least the personal version does), so there is no need to adjust you LILO for anything... The professional version runs on an independant partition, but you can adjust your LILO with almost no problems... just open the file lilo.conf, and insert the BeOS partition (ex.: dev/hda*).
