we still don't have anything that comes close to replacing it.
html has SVG for resolution-independent vector graphics, canvas for bitmapped graphics, video for.. video, webgl for 3d, etc... but making all these things work together seamlessly is next to impossible.
using SVG natively from javascript is a nightmare, CSS and SVG don't mix well, mixing SVG & canvas is ill-advised, multi-device/dynamic-quality audio/video playback is DIY (at best), webgl is completely separate from everything, there's no overarching animation/timeline (no, CSS3 doesn't count) everything is just a mish-mash of separate projects that people thought might fit in the browser - there's no cohesion.
flash wasn't perfect - it certainly had it's fair share of issues. but what it did do well was integrate all of its technologies together reasonably well. that and AS3 had a type system.
You can use ubuntu's (debian's) `apt` to install/update the actual Ubuntu binaries instead of using cygwin's inferior setup.exe to install recompiled win32 binaries linked to a slew of compatibility libraries.
Try it. You can run them both at the same time - I did for a while until I uninstalled Cygwin.
Give them a break. They literally implemented whole other operating-systems's-worth of Syscalls, and you're complaining about the correct clipboard keyboard shortcuts? (The clipboard works fine, it's just the keyboard shortcuts which are not there since conhost is used for both win32 and wsl)

ahem. the reason Trump often sounds original or insightful is because he doesn't usually say things other people say. the reason for this is that most people say sensible things and mostly he's just talking out of his ass.
This is significantly better than Cygwin. It's Ubuntu (or whichever district you like) running on the Windows kernel. I used Cygwin for over 15 years before I removed it from all my win10 boxes earlier this year.
why?
did you check your ACLs?
who's the snowflake? the guy who can't bare to think that one of his neighbors has a different opinion than him? poor guy...
let me guess? you have no clue what your're talking about? ok.

There is no van. There is no Linux. There is no spoon.

There is no Linux in WSL.
so what they're saying is that single-payer is the most economical healthcare system?
the ubuntu 16.04 sshd works just fine on wsl. You do have to open a port in the firewall.
more people speak Hindi than speak English.

Yeah there's no Linux here, just the user-mode applications & services.
Remember that WSL has nothing to do with the Linux kernel. This is GNU user-mode (compiled as a Linux distribution) running on Windows.
"Low priority thread"
Hard drive spindles.
Lol
"Linux syscalls work..."
Linux says also work in Windows.
They're implemented in lxss.sys et al.
you can run X11 clients just fine on wsl and serve them to a native X11 server running on the Windows desktop. No kernel-mode stuff, of course.
None of the statements of fact about c#/.net in that post are correct.
You can't use car unless it's assigned a value in the declaration.
Anything containing an anonymous type?
Are you suggesting all guns that shot that same round have the same muzzle velocity, the same magazine capacity, and the same accuracy at range?
