There really does seem to be coordination between Microsoft and Apple to destroy Google and Android or at least control it and get money from it. Blech. Any legal system that would allow the best maps service to be blocked so an inferior one can get money for a patent needs to be changed, because it has forgotten totally about the public interest. Shame on Microsoft. And shame on Apple.
I hate to say it. I ever have a certification in Google Apps. But Google the quality, and features, or everything except gmail, is just awful, and keeps getting worse.
Don't different countries subsidize the internet in different ways, and to different extents?
If I pay $20 a month to my ISP, then another $20 to my government, to subsidize the ISP, it's the same as paying $40 a month for an unsubsidized ISP. But this calculation may only look at the money paid directly to the ISP.
With aggressive hyper-litigious patent trolls, like Microsoft, Oracle, and Apple suing everybody every day; how can you blame Google for trying to protect itself.
Google hates software patents, and has lobbied against them. But until the system changes, Google is forced to defend itself.
PJ from Groklaw:
Maybe they don't want you to have an SD card so you will spend $50 more for the 16GB model, instead of the 8GB model?
Seriously, enough already.
That is my understanding. When MS releases source under GPL, I will be a little more inclined to trust MS.
Actually, maybe not even then. There are always patents.

Probably less than 5% of consumers use open source.
Apple products are selling like mad. Nobody is confusing Apple products with Samsung.
Apple has a choice, Apple choose to be a bunch of litigous bastards.
Are you sure you want to compete with 3rd world wages?
You don't eat organic to get more vitamins, but less pesticides, and herbicides.
invented anything.

Linux users do not have to use Gnome. There are many other desktops to choose from.
I use Windows 7 at work. For me, getting home to my Linux system is like a taking a breath of freash air.
As I understand it.
Why would you consider the article a troll, or flamebait? Just because it is not worshiping Apple?
Samsung had evidence of prior art, the judge decided that evidence was inadmissible.
I think Lotus sued Borland over the look of the menus, or something equally silly.
> She doesn't take ANYONE's crap.
> Or did you forget that Samsung was prevented from entering the F700 into evidence and a few other things?
How would that be taking crap?
Getting attention *here* from "serious readers" does not count for much.
Several of Phillip K. Dick's stories went on to become major Hollywood movies. But I think Phillip died impoverished, and relatively unknown.
Ayn Rand did not oppose charity. But Ayn Rand thought it should be voluntary, nor forced by government.
Where does this guy get his "facts?" From 2010? I do see him citing any sources.
Samsung is the only viable competitor to Apple? The Nexus 7 is selling millions, retailers can't keep them on the shelves. What about the Kindle Fire?
The article looks like an industry plant. A unverified puff piece.
IT jobs are *flooding* out of the US. Every now and then a few pitiful jobs come to the US. And some bozo makes a huge fuss over it.
patents. So yes props and the like do matter.
The fictional shows, like "2001 A Space Odyssey " clearly show that Apple did not invent the rectangle.
That is the difference between Apple and respectable companies.
Sure Apple copied Sony as much as Samsung copied Apple. But Sony didn't sue, and sue, and sue, and sue.
Seriously, this is BS. How does a 7" device look too similiar to a 10" device?
Furthermore, a judge has ordered Apple to apologize for Apple's BS claims of Samsung devices looking to similar.
Also, Apple lost it's case against HTC. If a Xoom does not look to similar, than how could a Nexus 7 look to similar.
These lawsuits from apple are nothing but scams. Apple is just trying to harass the competition.
Apple sucks, and should be boycotted.
