Thats the exact same choice our founding fathers had to make, and quite frankly if you're quest for liberty is so easily traded in on the mere threat to your life you don't deserve to be free.
The sub desktop standard put forth called Flex ATX is ideal for making a small fully powered desktop in a real small form factor. Englight (http://www.enlight.com.tw) has a flex atx offering as do numerous other manufacturers.
This would be an ideal roll your own type soultion.
I have no real problem with any retailer choosing to enforce ESRB ratings on software if it will help once and for all put an end to the 'violence in video games is bad' line of thinking. Plus I will always have the option of purchasing a game for my child if the store won't sell it to him so it doesnt infringe upon any adult majors rights.
Not to mention it will allow accountability to be 'enforced' (IE sue walmart) the next time some kid shoots up a school AND plays quake. I don'agree with the sue anything that moves mentaility, but it does take much of the bit out of a trite and tiring platform.
Cynical? Yup.
I didn't even ask for a cat. One was mailed to my house by forbes.com without my even having asked for one. Here's a parcel for you, keep in mind if you open it you will have to play by the rules as laid out by the enclosed EULA!
That's a good idea for a business. Send out letters demanding a $100 payment and stuff a EULA in the envelope that states that the opener has agreed to abide by the rules. HMMMMM "Well your honor he DID open the letter and the enclosed EULA DID state that he would abide by its terms upon opening"
Well I'm off to make my millions! Thanks/.
