    Youre not the only one.
Europe and Latin America (Brazil) also suffer a lot because of the steel tariffs.
The US promotes "globalism" but when it appears any threat to the (inefficient) local industry a lot of protectionist barriers appears. This just seem a bit of a hypocrisy to me.

  2. Re:maybe on your planet... on Will CS Students Switch From Microsoft? · · Score: 1

I study in a Federal university in Brazil, Microsoft had also donated licenses a long time ago (in the NT 3.something time), but all of a sudden they decided to "renew" our licenses and decided to charge for that. Obviuously we did not had the money for that (I dont know if you know, but (lack of) money is a major problem in public universities here).
That was when we switched everything to Linux, with the money saved in licenses, we bought a very fast server and used those low end cpus as clients with X Display and no hard drive in a 100Mbps network.
And weve lived happily ever after :)

    No, they werent.

Santos Dumont was the first to accomplish a full flight. It took off alone and it landed. The wrights only got some seconds in the air, and this because they were thrown with the help of a machine
You may check that with any history teacher.
But why some people (eg. the americans) dont give him the credits is a whole other story.

  4. Re:One of the main problems with internet voting on Elections on the Internet -- Not Any Time Soon · · Score: 1

Actually, a computer terminal in polling stations is very usual where I live (Brazil). And it dont even need to have a touch screen monitor, it just uses a number keyboard with big keys.
It is much easier for the user than a punch card with dubious instructions and more realible than internet voting.
And we can have the results in just a few hours.
