Did anyone read the whole article? Firefox is so locked down that when the reviewer used his normal account, he states 'Firefox informed me that my profile was already in use, and to either choose another or create a new one. This was odd.... but my user account had no rights to change the attributes, so I had to sudo over to change the permissions.' Talk about being locked down. Users will love that. I hope it happens when I clear my cache out too. Can you imagine the possibilities of avoiding IE lock down will get ya?
Firefox can't do anything to win market share from Microsoft. It is Microsoft's game to lose. M$ hardly has to update their product and it would be better then any Mozzila release to date. Sorry to say but 'A day late and a dollar short' should be 'A few years late and no money to be made'. What a waste of hours, I wonder what the suicide rate is for their developers? IMHO Open source web suite development resources would have been much better spent in R&D looking for that killer app the makes Linux a must. I'm ready.
Thanks for the response. One question if you don't mind....I have seen pictures of electron microscopes showing atoms that have been moved around to spell words, like IBM, there seem to be a ton of space, is there a way to arrange the atoms so there is little or no displacement wave? (or is this the unphysical infinite rigidity you mentioned, sorry more then one question)
Good Point. But the stick is only moving an inch or so and not very fast (my guess would be 1 m/s). I would be pushing it, so the theory of relativity imho wouldn't make the stick much shorter.
I didn't read any debunking, could you explain what section, it's a rather lengthy document. In the beginning it states two problems: a) finding enough material b) passing spaceships might interfere. I didn't say this was practical and there is no pulling, the message is being sent/pushed to the recipient, Europa. Some parts do say information can travel faster then light:
"Information can indeed exceed the speed of light. Consider gravity. Gravity is instantly transmitted across interstellar distances. That's information right there (the mass of the object)."
The word "vibration" doesn't appear anywhere in the link you supplied. So again, why does this link debunk my post? What might happen if there was a steel drum on Europa, and the stick would hit the drum, would there be any sound? If you answer yes, can you understand why this would prove my point? If no, you need to read some Kant or something similar.
You talking to me? The vibration doesn't have to happen on earth, it happens where the stick hits....If my stick is approximately 800,000,000 km long (long enough that it hits the target) and I move it an inch or so that it strikes Europa in a way that it makes a tone, all that matters is that it can be interpreted as dot-dot-dot, dash-dash-dash, dot-dot-dot. That's possible without the vibration going through the stick.
I think you are misinterpreting me. I'm not saying use the stick as a telephone wire, in which case you are right, but I'm saying extend the equipments reach and bypass the slow link(electrons in this case). I hope this amuses you...
It's thinking like yours that will that will be the reason it'll take 180 years to get a reply. E=mc2 just means it takes an infinite amount of energy to reach the speed of light, but it leaves the door open for faster speeds, just not equal.
Thankfully there are people who think outside the bun, like Gerald Feinberg, who introduced Tachyons, faster then light particles. Even Bradbury, Clarke, and Asimov had a few good ideas.
Also, information can move faster then light in the right conditions. For instance, if we built a long stick to europa or whatever, we could tap out morse code before any light could arrive:)

Check your facts.....
"First, MacOS X cannot do group policy. Nothing other than a Win2k server can--so it could be harder to lock down workstations if that is a goal."
That's wrong for numerious reasons: the obvious are windows 2003 (nit picky I know) and Novell.
Novell's been doing group policy stuff for more then eight years using intranetware & nds, nwm, and zenworks.
