I don't understand why this is so... new technology... so breath taking Google Earth, Mandelbrot fractals,... this technology just reuse old stuff and tell us that with Silverthing you will be able to use this wonderful technology...
In Java, Javascript, flash,... you can do that too.
They talk about VMWare, Intel/AMD, the future Solaris on E10000, other things... but where is IBM? They can do Virtualization for at least 3 years with their Regatta technology (P670, P690 (Power 4 technology), P530, P550, P560, P570, P575, P590, P595 (Power 5 technology)) and their OS AIX 5L.
they are able to give a few percentage of a cpu to virtual server, with their Virtual IO server, they also are able to virtualize network and disks. They can do workload management between virtual servers. Add/remove disks/cpu/memory in real time.
etc...
So for a complete discussion an overview of the virtualization in the industry, IBM is now a big player, and they are now surpassing SOLARIS & HP in the "closed" unix world.
So for me this overview is not complete and should not have passed the "draft" version until someone was looking at the actual and running alternatives.
Living in switzerland, I could hear quite often the news concerning this article.
At least concerning the Switzerland, I cannot say for Italie, the problem was that Indymedia was publishing some pictures of swiss cops under cover with 1 name, addresses from both cops.
From this point of view I can understand that it's quite dangerous for them to be exposed in such way.
here is an article (in french) http://www.edicom.ch/news/suisse/041009160849.sa.s html
Most of the people (including me) I know is bashing Windows, because it is prone to crash.
XP is perhaps more stable, but it's not yet full stable enough. But looking were I work... that's a nightmare, the people have at least 50 reboots of servers each day for a total of 800-900 servers.
If you look big companies... they don't put their production on Windows servers, but more in UNIX/MainFrame/... servers. Windows are more for small non critical services most of the time.
So why on earth, doctors put people lives under "crash prone" systems?
So what?

Well... I don't understand...
