    with me (43 (yeah, yeah, get off my yada, yada, yada...)), it's about textures. I just like touching things and the movement of going past walls and feeling the texture change quickly is pretty cool.

    Bob Forward's novel Rocheworld (Flight of the Dragonfly) nicely illustrates a laser boosted light sail space ship. He was an engineer with JPL and his writing's kinda' stilted but the science and tech is pretty cool.

    I still have disk doctor installed on my 33Mhz system. Haven't fired it up in a couple of years but was running back in 2008. Reads disks just fine.

    Hey, applying payroll taxes on anything earned past first $108,000 is pure communism. Who cares if 70% of people make less than $108 and therefore have their full earnings taxed, you gotta' think of how hard the rich have it. They can't afford to be taxes on all 100% of their earnings.

    Star Wars posits a world of lower class people ruled (however lightly) by a cadre of elites with no upward mobility path. You're either born with the magic dingus in your system or you're not.

    Star Trek is based on competency, where anyone may apply to Star Fleet and prove your worth. Is much more egalitarian.

    Should be simple enough to match up what versions of what apps run on which OS.

    Well... Mac OS and iOS both have same name apps (Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Safari, etc.) and they don't work on the different platforms.

    If the MPAA folks hadn't pushed for DRM on HDMI, we'd have nice Firewire connected AV equipment and everything'd be cool. Can't wait until I find a gateway to the universe where that happened. Although I imagine there's a bunch of slider versions of myself all hanging out in my living room over there.
