Not sure exactly what you're talking about here; wpo9 runs fine on my Mandrake 8.1 system. You just can't install wine distributed with Mandrake. You have to use the wine from the wpo9 CD. OTOH,
wp8 won't even load with the 2.4 kernels; so I guess that's just a dead chicken.

Heh, this box had anacron installed. Updatedb normally runs from cron at 4 AM when everyone is in bed. But anacron tries to "catch up" when you boot any crons that were missed when the box was asleep. I just don't install anacron, since I have no cron jobs which absolutely have to run every day.

Well, since I have 2.5 year-old Rage Pro, I don't believe it even does 3D accelleration. However with GATOS drivers I am able to get smooth-motion full-screen mpeg play, something I can't do with stock XFree 4.1 drivers or in Win98. So with all the ragging on ATI for its bad drivers, I wanted to point out something better was available.

GPL is not the answer; as was mentioned above it doesn't protect against sale of copyrighted works. This is what copyright law was intended to protect against.

The real parallel here, is with mymp3.com. They were shut down for compiling a database of copyrighted works without permission of copyright holders. This is the precedence; all people whose theses appear here without permission might want to join in class-action suit against these scum.
