Not sure exactly what you're talking about here; wpo9 runs fine on my Mandrake 8.1 system. You just can't install wine distributed with Mandrake. You have to use the wine from the wpo9 CD. OTOH,
wp8 won't even load with the 2.4 kernels; so I guess that's just a dead chicken.
Heh, this box had anacron installed. Updatedb normally runs from cron at 4 AM when everyone is in bed. But anacron tries to "catch up" when you boot any crons that were missed when the box was asleep. I just don't install anacron, since I have no cron jobs which absolutely have to run every day.
Well, I don't know about the custom menus, but if you choose the application menu you can edit it with kmenuedit. Note this is the same menu as the K-menu on the taskbar which I gathered is what you wanted to get rid of.
Well, since I have 2.5 year-old Rage Pro, I don't
believe it even does 3D accelleration. However with GATOS drivers I am able to get smooth-motion full-screen mpeg play, something I can't do with stock XFree 4.1 drivers or in Win98. So with all the ragging on ATI for its bad drivers, I wanted to point out something better was available.
From FHS-2.1:
/opt: Add-on application software packages
This seems to me to be an ideal place to dump KDE, gnome, StarOffice, wpo2000, etc, etc. KDE is not mentioned in FHS; perhaps you could enlighten me why you think FHS specifies KDE to go into/usr.
GPL is not the answer; as was mentioned above it doesn't protect against sale of copyrighted works. This is what copyright law was intended to protect against.
The real parallel here, is with mymp3.com. They were shut down for compiling a database of copyrighted works without permission of copyright holders. This is the precedence; all people whose theses appear here without permission might want to join in class-action suit against these scum.
This is available now; it's called vmware. I use it at work - the neat thing is when NT crashes, I can continue to work in Linux while NT reboots its virtual machine.

Well if you had read the entire documnent, you would have discovered it was not written by the judges of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals but by David Boies and Daniel Johnson Jr, attorneys for Napster.

If Microsoft got into bio-engineering then.... You'd need a Client Access License to have sex.
I'll probably get modded down for this... Wait, unless I say I'll get modded down...

"The St. Paul Star Tribune"
The Star Tribune is a Minneapolis newspaper - though it is available in St. Paul. Just thought you'd like to know.
Just how long would that take over a 56k modem?

Dude:
Control Center -> LookNFeel -> Desktop -> Clicks on the desktop. Choose what you want for each mouse click
Actually, the person who thinks it's a good idea to connect Air Traffic Control systems to the internet is who should get life in prison.
My first thought was of the scene in Dr. Strangelove where Slim Pickens was sitting on the bomb in the bomb bay.

More advanced ATI drivers are available from the GATOS project. www.linuxvideo.org/gatos
MS-DOS? MS-DOS: never before have so many paid so much for so little.
