There is also a vibrant tech community in Utah with a variety of meetups including:

  7. Price on A Radical Plan For Saving Microsoft's Surface RT · · Score: 2

From the very start price was the biggest failing point for the Surface. They were crazy to price it at $499 WITHOUT their key marketing point...the keyboard case.

  8. NSA Datacenter on Collision Between Water and Energy Is Underway, and Worsening · · Score: 5, Interesting

I live close to the new NSA data center in Bluffdale, Utah. Currently we are under a drought with widespread municipal water restrictions, yet the NSA surveillance center requires 1.7M gallons of water daily to operate.

  9. What would I do without the web? on Developers May Be Getting 50% of Their Documentation From Stack Overflow · · Score: 1

As a younger developer (~5 years) I often wonder what it was like to be in the industry 25 years ago, before the web is what it is today. Documentation is ALL online. I only read software books for academics or to learn something new. In order to get the job done, there is no substitute to google and/or sites like stack overflow.
