  1. Have you noticed the recruitment standards? on Paying for Better Math and Science Teachers · · Score: 1

They're taking felons and gangmembers now. However this is no slur on the military, I have much respect for those who serve there. The leadership of this country is mis-using the military, and I am quite sure our men and resources will be stretched into Iran. Standards drop, and those who normally wouldn't make the cut are being welcomed in. Hence my cynical crack about the poor and dumb finally having the ability to 'contribute' to the nation...

  2. Fat, Dumb and Religious is no way to go... on Paying for Better Math and Science Teachers · · Score: 2, Insightful

...through life, son! Unfortunately, a large portion of my fellow citizens are doing their best to pack on the fat, reduce the quality of education, and push their religion into government.

    *shrug*

They can always join the military! With Lil'Bush making noise about Iran, we'll have a deep need for people to die in the desert for Haliburton and Exxon!

I turn the graphics quality way down, but it is cool to zoom into your city and see all the things you built, etc..

  5. A religionist using 'groupthink'? How droll! on Christian Group Prepares To Mark Wii as 'Porn Portal' · · Score: 2, Insightful

Your sad little dreams of the 'sky daddy' are the most robust example of 'groupthink' I can recall!

Also hilarious, is that you bash 'leftists' for their 'groupthink'. Leftists are progressives...and since you obviously see the world in black and white, you must be a rightist...or conservative. Conservatives don't like change...they want things to stay the same way they've always been and the same way everybody already does them...which is GROUPTHINK!

If this was a troll, good job.

If someone said "Your wallet or your life", I'd probably just give them the wallet. Most people wouldn't make such a statement without having their means of killing me ready to go, and I likely wouldn't be expecting a threat so I would have no chance of getting the drop on the mugger. Not wanting to risk my life for a few hundred bucks...he can have the waller.

You seem to think handing over a wallet with a few cancellable credit cards and money that can be earned is worth taking the life of another person. I do not.

  9. moral != legal on Iran Launches Payload into Space · · Score: 1

You totally missed the point. Too easy: it was once legal to own black people. In 20 years we will say "it was once legal to kill someone just because you *thought* he was going to harm you.".

In the moment you might have a point, but in the long-term pre-emptive strikes work against you. Now the rest of the world/society/town knows that you might just attack them because you *think* they are up to something. This will affect how they discuss issues with you, and you might well become MORE exposed to a pre-emptive strike from one of many other people!

I don't give a shit about one pissant ME country wanting to destroy another pissant ME country. I don't want my nation to right the world's wrongs. I guess if you care for being the world's policeman, this is a good argument. Me, I'm pretty isolationist...if Iran attacks Israel, THEN we can get involved. Otherwise, this is like 'thoughtcrime'.

Iran funds and trains terrorists? You mean like Osama Bin Laden, a terrorist in the 1980s who was going to take down the soviet-sponsored Afghan gov't?

If Hezbollah or Hamas got an ICBM that could reach the USA, then I'd be concerned. But they don't. They can't even reach Europe right now. I know those two groups have no love for the USA, but they are hardly Al-Quieda! They have more regional goals.

    I just don't buy into the fear-mongering.

That sounds nice, but when Mexicans are still flowing over our Southern border, you don't see some kind of double-standard when Canada gets stricter checks?
