    Pretty much all alternate fuel platforms are too much compared to an old used Civic, SL, etc, and even some new cars. Prius, Civic NGV, etc are $10k a compact car with great mileage, and the gas savings on those are not going to break even over the 2-5 years people keep their cars

    People don't give a shit what powers it as long as it works. Anyways, Intel's problem actually isn't ARM, it's that they're also being joined by MIPS, and MIPS is a cheaper architecture and has better power credentials. Price and functionality matter, and whoever can deliver that at a sweetspot will be successful.

    Dell used to have a ton of 16:10 monitors, as well as most of the market, now you're limited to a few select models. This model wasn't announced until later, and every smaller iteration of it at release was 16:9. Basically, only the largest and most expensive version was 16:10.

    First, they quit selling 16:10 panels because it's cheaper to make 16:9 panels.
    Now, they're taking away DVI ports because fuck you that's why.
    When are they just going to take away our monitors all together?

    Well, there's the group that challenge the data collection and the models, and there's the group that says that "why should we punish ourselves when we're just a small portion of the world's population and China and India, who have the vast majority of the world's population, don't give a fuck at all?" as well as the group that says that it is inevitable anyways, since it's just influencing a trend(eg coming out of an ice age).

    Exactly. Stop talking about issues as black and white and start talking about science. Teach the scientific method, teach reasoning skills, etc. Let kids figure it out on their own, otherwise they never learn how to think, only how to memorize and regurgitate talking points.

    Sort of. Various countries keep it to themselves, sell to others for a discount(a number of countries do this with Russia in exchange for other considerations), etc. In general, yes, but there is nothing that says that we can't nationalize our oil interests in order to reduce our own costs, it just will hurt us globally.

    lets switch to switchgrass please. You don't need to waste food or farmland for switchgrass, it grows in many difficult conditions and is cheaper to manage by far. It also has better energy energy content by far.

    Well, for E3 they're supposed to verify your company actually exists and is in the industry. Some years they try to enforce these regulations, most years they don't. In my experience, if you prepay they're check you, but if you get your ticket from a 3rd party, they don't check shit when you register.

    It's the same thing that E3 devolved into, really. A big dog and pony show with 50% the population of attendees made up of people that shouldn't be there, 49% made up of press and pseudopress bloggers, and 1% made up of people that should actually be there.

    Microsoft doesn't even need to do anything but stick with what they're doing at this point for Bing to grow. Google is junking up the search results, as you would say, more and more with each passing month

    Honestly that's part of the fun, imho. You have to make a real time investment into character creation and development, which attaches you to the character. That said, it's real balls unless you have a good spreadsheet. There are a few good ones out there, though. You also need something handy for similar skills, or you end up hurting yourself later

    What? Do they go through and burn all the books? We're still playing Rolemaster 2nd edition. The latest stuff(Silly System, 3rd and 4th ed) is awful. Sometimes you just gotta stuck with what works

    Which doesn't mean anything as far as stopping ideas. Apple didn't start with venture capital, even if it received it prior to the IPO when it went full scale. It just means you need to invest in things you're sure of, or not at all. I'm okay with that, really. We can see what unworthy investments did to the economy in the past decade.

    70% of small businesses are sole proprietorships, not LLCs. There is no limited liability in a sole proprietorship. The next Google or Apple would happen because the guy working in his garage doesn't create an LLC, they create sole proprietorships and partnerships(and occasionally limited partnerships where the investor is protected). You know, kind of like Jobs, Woz, and Wayne(Apple was established as a partnership before incorporating).

    Depending on the enterprise, ASP and C# can definitely be useful. It really depends on the shop. One Fortune 500 I was with worked primarily with ASP, the current one I work with uses ASP, PHP, and Java equally. The small webdev houses I've been with have used ASP more than PHP(that Microsoft Certified Solutions Provider logo seems to impress the businesses you're making stuff for, I guess). Most of my friends that do solo freelance work do PHP.
