And it's even worse for Go, which is predictably rated very low by TIOBE. Of course, you would think Google of all companies should have known better than to pick a name for a programming language that is impossible to search for...

This is a plan that needs to be shot down. With Reagan's ray guns if needed.

How can you be opposed to the mission if you want to know if there is life on Mars? If we send people there we will know for sure that there is!

No, this is a permanent version of what already existed. Of course you can paste a long string of blocked sites to the end of every search you make, but don't fool yourself into thinking it's as easy as blocking a site with a click and having Google remember it for you.

There is a difference: I develop an Android app. I upload it to my web site, where my testers can download it and install it once they have checked the "Install non-Market apps" checkbox. To do the same for the iPhone I would have to compile the app for my testers' phones, and I would have to buy an extra license if I wanted more than x testers.

Dear Slashdot: I am reader of Slashdot that actually like the "Ask Slashdot" stories. The problem is that every story comes with at least one "Do my job for me"-post. Could you please help me get rid of these, as they are tiresome and don't contribute anything to the discussion?

Come to work knowing what you are doing. This may mean cramming in your off hours. Don't say that you don't know how to do something. Say that you do and then learn it!

Please ignore that. Honesty is always better - and if your team doesn't welcome honesty, try to change the team's attitude. If you trust each other your results will be better. If you don't know how to do something, say you don't and THEN learn it.
