I've owned two vehicles with daytime running lights, so far. One was a Buick Regal, which illuminated the amber front blinkers during the day. It did not turn on all of the side and rear markers.
My current car illuminates the headlamps at a lower voltage. I think it's stupid to burn a $15 headlight all the time instead of a 50 cent blinker bulb but I couldn't disable them. I pulled the DRL fuse and it causes the ECM to throw a code. Annoying.
I think the Buick's solution was much better though it's really only effective in the rain (when you should be running your headlights anyway). If only we could get people to leave their hazard flashers OFF in heavy downpours. Makes it impossible to see when they're braking.
I found it useful when I discovered (but have not yet confronted) my current girlfriend viewed nude pictures of my ex-girlfriend that were in an obscure folder on my Mac. The access times were while I was at work.
Toner is MUCH easier to clean up than ink. All you need is a vacuum and/or cold water. Never use warm or hot water to clean up toner.. you'll fuse it to whatever you're trying to clean. That's how it gets stuck to the page.
Ink however.. expect to replace or bleach and redye anything you happen to spill it on.
The tax is on gasoline not "fuel". Just because they use the gas tax to pay for infrastructure doesn't mean that all fuels are included. If they want vegetable oil to be taxed, they should change their law.
If you ride a bicycle down the same road are you also evading taxes?

I prefer the lid closed mainly because I have a shelf full of toiletries and a towel rack hanging over the toilet. If one of those items were to fall, I don't want to have to fish it out of the toilet.
I used to room with a female who insisted that I close the shower curtain. I listened to her argument, agreed, and learned quickly to close it when I was finished.
She (to this day in her new place) leaves the seat down and lid up. It makes me think she just gets up and walks away from the toilet when she's done. Gross!
Each time I'd find the toilet in that state, I'd yank the shower curtain open with as much noise as possible. She would then come running up the stairs yelling "SORRY!", lower the toilet lid and then put the shower curtain back. It apparently didn't teach her but it made me feel better.
I bought a LaserJet 1200 in 2000 and it just died recently. It would emit a high-pitched whine.
I disassembled it looking for the source and it turned out to be coming from the laser scanner itself. It apparently spun a bearing on the rotating mirror.
Unfortunately HP priced the replacement scanner at $130-180 (I forget) which was more than the printer was worth. I'm still on the original toner cart:-/
Perhaps you're running batches into that crusty old sock but some of us have children (i.e. subverted a cell, beginning the process of a bazillion 'clones')
I don't think anyone would argue that being allowed to use a gun under supervised conditions would in any way meet the requirements of the 2nd amendment. The point to the amendment was to specifically allow for individuals to possess weapons for use when a militia was called upon by local or state government (an idea which is a bit obsolete, but none the less, requires that you actually own a gun).
Everyone has a hometown favorite. I grew up in NY and my family followed the Mets. Around here, people like the Devil Rays (huh?). Every team has its fans, usually close to home. However, there are Yankees fans *everywhere*.
If the Yankees make it to post-season games, you guarantee LOTS of eyes on the screen. Lots of merchandise sales and ad revenue.
The Yankees win because they're supposed to. Likewise I believe Boston won because it was time to cash in on the "curse."
Consider that example yourself, for a moment. Your world hasn't changed until the news has arrived. Think of it another way: Is your neighbor alive right now? He could be. He probably is. He may not be. You really couldn't say that he is or isn't already dead. To put it another way: The odds of his survival are in his favor, but they become 1 in 1 when you find out the outcome.
So what you're saying is his neighbor is both alive and dead at the same time
I don't think you can buy a video card without a 3D accelerator any more. MythTV uses OpenGL to do its channel info, volume, and menu overlays among other things.
That's not a bad idea. I'd be happy to donate a spool of CD-Rs to the cause. In fact, I'm starting an adult dvd business. It wouldn't cost much of anything to include an OpenOffice CD with the DVDs I ship. haha
I evaluated a 4-core T2000 a while back. One of the things I did before giving it back was to install gentoo. Here's what I wrote about that back then:
I built a vanilla 2.6.17 kernel and modules in about 4 minutes. The rest of the stage 3 install went on in just a couple of hours. Most of the delay was my relatively slow 768K DSL connection, pulling down source.
Whenever you can type "make -j17 without distcc, it's a beautiful thing.
I'd say the Niagra line of SPARC chips do quite well for server-oriented tasks.
Considering that the pinpad itself encrypts all the data, and the host POS device can verify it's a valid packet, I'd think that a "simple memory system in a pretty case" would have to do a lot to fool you.
Sony has found another way to spy on us.

It sure did. That's what made OS/2 "a better Windows than Windows"

I use cuts of meat: shank, sirloin, chuck, brisket...

Those statistics for the Iraq war look a lot like Bush's approval rating. Maybe we could use that to predict the outcome of the war.

If they are flying a helicopter anyway then why is Bush traveling by motorcade?

I was taught that there is no such thing as "cold." There is only an absense of heat.
