  1. Denial of opinion on Jewish School Removes Evolution Questions From Exams · · Score: 0

As science gets less clueless in time, further flaws are discovered to evolutionism, which still need to be answered before we can tell evolutionism is as widely accepted as 1+1=2.

So, creationism or evolutionism are still a matter of opinion. And yes, creationism is at the base of most religions. For centuries. Nothing new here.

Best would be that both, main theories are taught in schools. Unfortunately, at the moment, one is being forced to children and the other, just dismissed. Funny how one school leaning the other way generates so much outcry. One school which most of your children will not attend, too.

Some time ago, people fought to change school teachings that the world is flat. Is creationism or evolutionism our flat world ? Science has not yet been able to prove either way, even if it has its preference. Some scientific theories have proven to be useful, even before they could be proven. Is it the case of evolutionism ? Doubt it.

In the meantime, its just a faith versus non-faith struggle.
And many slashdotters commenting here are just denying the most basic right in democracies to agree to disagree.

  3. Let me get this straight on French Fine Amazon For Free Shipping · · Score: 1

Let me try to summarise the vast majority of comments:
    - French is bad, USA is good and the rest is whatever.
    - USA companies extending their businesses abroad must only answer to USA rules.
    - As long as the company is USA based, any foreign national law should be ignored, and failure to comply, leading to a $1000 fine for a company making 10 billions per year, may be blamed on the French.

Yay, masters of the world !

    * slight decrease of DoS, virus spreading

    Long term:
    * users of those systems either buy a copy of Windows if they can afford it, but many switch to Linux
    * gaming options improves on Linux
    * stabilisation of DoS, virus spreading

    Very long term:
    * more gamers switch to Linux, as it becomes a viable option and does not require them to buy Longhorn.

    Eventually:
    * Microsoft regrets taking this steps, after Linux becomes predominants amongst youngsters.
    * Phenomenon is accentuated when ex-youngsters/new-graduates introduce their in-depth Linux experience into the even most monolithic companies

Thanks for bringing some light on that privacy whining.
Funny how the whining people just complain to their ISP when their ISPs are under attack, but they certainly dont want any new technology to solve that problem, in the name of "privacy".
Yeah, you need to give some of your privacy away if you wish to also get a way to trace back abuses to the source.

  8. Good news on IETF To Develop Anti-DoS ICMP · · Score: 1

Recently, most DOS attacks have been difficult to stop due to a flow in the stable cisco IOS versions, which allowed non-intial fragments , even you only had one "deny all" access list.
Cisco has been working on this and a fix should be widely spread soon.
However, I am not sure how those ltrace ICMPs will tackle partial IP packet DOS, which mostly result in CRC errors on the attacked host.
Resolving the spoofed attacks problem is certainly a good step forward, though. As of now, the only way to do it is trace the packets from one router to the other until the source of the traffic is reached. Too often, this source, is itself a victim (hacked host). Besides, going from one router to the other requires coordination between ISPs, which ... has not been successful so far. DH.
