You say you want it Apache based on dyanmic. Well how are you going to build the dynamic pages? Are you writing your own Apache module? Are you using Perl, PHP, JSP, CFML... what? Are you using Apache 1.3.* or Apache 2.0.x? What database are you using? What kind of application is it? What OS are you using? What about disk subsystem, is it RAID based? If so, what level? Why do you want to use a single big machine instead of many small machines?
Anyway, you need to provide way more information in order to get help. There is no magic way to make a site scalable. It just depends on the answers to all the above questions and more.
That's no good. What happens when your page is being built based on data coming from the URL query string or form variables or cookies or session state, etc. Do you just not cache those pages?
Clearly you have to index the cache based on the composite of the data input they page requires to process.
I bought this great looking PowerBook G4, so that I could run MSFT Office and have a Unix OS at the same time. Maybe I am spoiled on Linux, but where are all the GNU tools?
I went to use CVS the other day and found out it wasn't there. No big deal, I downloaded and then found out I didn't have GCC. Nothing is more annoying than having to bootstrap GCC.
On the non-GNU front... What if I want to use J2SE 1.4? WTF do I get it? It seems only 1.3 is available.
I know the Mac has been around a long time with no right mouse button, but come on! I don't want to have to plug in a mouse just so I can right click. Holding down the button just slows me down.
Oracle certifies platforms for this reason. You will notice they don't support RedHat 7.0.

Linux Is Going Down

MS doesn't understand what is behind Linux. I was recently interviewed by Doug Miller on the use of Linux at my company. He asked many leading questions trying to tie Linux's success with that of companies like Redhat and Linuxcare.
I agreed with him that Redhat's business model sucks and I expected them to not do so well. However, I had to point over and over that Linux will survive with or without Redhat. No matter how many times I explained it to him, he just didn't get it.
Being able to print out a screen sounds great, but where will we really see this technology applied first? My guess is the technology will be used heavly for marketing. You have seen first hand what they have done with banner ads. Imagine the power to make dynamic banners and hang them on walls at stores. At least you can filter banner ads on sites. Guess I will be doing more web shopping.
I run an IRC network for gamers and it is mostly male. I often ask the few female users we have how they feel about the situation. Mostly they don't see what the big deal is that they are female and play games. Usually they have a boyfriend/husband who got them hooked on games. The thing that turns them off is how males treat them. I think we need to get past the whole gender thing. I would love to work with more females. I would love to play online games with more females. I would really love to meet a female who understands why I am a geek and what it is all about.

Why not provide us with the research you found. Maybe one of us would be willing to hack up a quick and dirty prototype based on the research.
Just download the .NET framework and command-line tools are you are all ready to go. They do the same thing as Visual Studio without the IDE.

With the Sierra Wireless cards you don't have to worry about silly USB or serial cables. You also don't have the bandwidth limitations.
