It's just a domain squatter that is putting the site into a frame so they can spam you with banner ads at the bottom. The real site that they are ruining is http://www.kekatos.net/sysadmin.
These are the same creeps who are squatting on all the slashdot.org misspellings and putting our beloved News For Nerds site into frames.
http://www.sysadminday.com/ gets me a site, while http://www.kekatos.net/sysadmin doesn't (404). An error, maybe?
I agree. I thought the picture representation was an effort to not have to do different languages. For example, on the backs of branded PCs, you've got things that are suppose to tell you what a port does. There's a oval in a box that is supposed to be a monitor. There's 01010 for a serial port (if you don't even know what a serial port is, how is a string of bits in series supposed to help you figure that out?). Then there's a dot matrix printer shape for parallel. Who gets a new dot matrix any more?
One thing that works for the less-than-obvious looking icons on ports. Look at port, the general shape. Look at cable, the general shape. Same? Then, try it. Does it fit? Right one. Doesn't fit? Is it upside down?
Etc...
Color coding works too. Only place the first method doesn't work is for things like PS2. And, those icons make sense to me.
DSL? I think it *could* be the magic ingredient for widespread low-cost internet access if the telco's would only let it. Here in Albuquerque, we've been promised DSL by various companies for the last few years and still there is none available for private consumers. NONE. Rumour has it that our local telephone monopoly, US West, is denying DSL providers access to the lines. If anyone from around here can provide more info or prove me wrong, please do.
I'm in Santa Fe, and Jato.com would provide me with DSL if I had the money and wherewithal to do it. I had a contract for a New Edge DSL from SWCP, but New Edge is slacking on bringing it in, so Jato is the only choice for now. Try http://www.swcp.com/swcp-web/dsl/ for details. Or, alternately, check out the Jato.com site for more carriers in your area.
Just keep one thing in mind: do not, under any circumstances, deal with USurf America, if they have dialups or DSL up there. Take my word for it.
Yes there are socal pressures pushing you to "the norm". You'r a guy you like football right? Play foot ball. But if you go against the main and go to computers if you are a guy you are encuraged. If you go to chess club you get a thumbs up. If you go to debate club you make friends. Girls going to computers get "ahh you don't REALLY want to do that". So even AFTER expressing an intrest they get pushed away. It is very unusuall for a kid to continue to presue intrests once an athoritry figure trys to discurage them.
I don't know about that. I took a lot of crap in school for taking a technical route. I never went out for sports of any type in school, even though my size meant "basketball" to most people (I'm tall). Almost no peer support until High School. Even then, only a few people out of the 100+ in the program (alternative school) counted as peers.
Back in grade school, I did chess club. Got beat up a lot. Didn't do sports back then, either.
Anyway, the purpose of this is not to whine. The point is: environment only matters so far. I did keep at computers, through a negative environment. If one has a serious enough interest, they can get through the "authority figures" and peers attitude toward the chosen goal.
Well, not exactly a credit card, a Visa check card. Means I'm 18 online. Since the whole point of the Visa check card is that it is functionally the same as a credit card (vendor just needs to take Visa), how can this actually be called proof of age?

By the way, don't get hopeful about the Matrix on a Mac. It's already established that Apple's DVD software won't handle it.
Just a quick bit of nitpicking...
I've seen The Matrix DVD run quite well on a iMac Special DV (the granite one) with Apple DVD.

Actually, it has decent protections. Anyway, online escrow and dealing with trusted people goes a long way.

Much appreciated, thank you.
It's funny.
