Where do you get your crack? Evolution has never been hosted by Eazel. Wtf?

GtkHTML2 is not a web-browser replacement. We currently use GtkHTML in Evolution and it renders HTML fine, but has no support for CSS. GtkHTML2 will support that but it will still be a lightweight HTML rendering widget and not a full-blown web-browser ready engine. At least as far as I know - contact Anders Carlsson to find out for sure.

As far as achtung, it hasn't been abandoned - Joe Shaw is still hacking away at it in his spare time.

OpenOffice I believe itends to be fully GNOMEified, but I dunno for sure.

Sending HTML mail is turned off by default, I too hate receiving HTML mail - it doesn't belong, but at the same time we have to support it for the people who *do* want it.

I will admit that the interface is a ripoff of Outlook, but hey - we're working on the backend as that's where the important code is ;-)

Besides, Outlook's interface works. "If it ain't broke then don't try to fix it."

In any event, the real difference is in the backend. The components are very well designed and very modular.

I think that if you actually looked at the design you'd change your mind about it being "poorly developed"

  5. Re:File formats are obselete. Use IMAP on Evolution 0.3 Released · · Score: 1

We will have a disconnected-IMAP provider which will sync your local store with the remote store so you can browse your "IMAP" mail while offline.

This isn't done yet but hopefully by 0.4 or 0.5 we'll begin to have some preliminary support for this. I'm still working on writing the IMAP provider and Dan Winship is working on the disconnected-IMAP which will wrap around my IMAP code

you have no idea how much HelixCode actually puts into GNOME development, and HelixGnome is not exactly the same as your "regular" GNOME

  7. Re:KDE is the standard on Gnome 1.2.0 Released · · Score: 2

I think that your comment was uncalled for and inaccurate.

KDE is no more a standard than GNOME.

My guess is that you are:
    1. Not a developer, or at least not a very productive developer for either GNOME *or* KDE
(Why do I say that? Because if you were a contributer to either of those 2 projects you would not have made such a comment. You are free to prefer either one over the other, but a true contributor would not put down someone elses efforts. Both KDE and GNOME are a LOT of work and should both be highly respected.)

    2. Out to start a flame war because you are either a complete a$$ or you feel you have to bash GNOME in order to justify running KDE (which you shouldn't have to do if you felt it was so much better)

    3. Disrespectful (relating back to point #1) and I am thus VERY glad you aren't a GNOME developer because I for one would NOT want someone like you representing GNOME. And if I were a KDE developer, I wouldn't want you either.

I am very proud to be a GNOME developer and I respect KDE for it's accomplishments and believe it is very good. I would *never* direct such negative comments toward KDE like what you just directed toward GNOME.

I think it's silly to have flamewars, this is NOT what Linux/Open Source is all about. It should be about choices, working together for a common good and respect - something which you apparently do not have.

If you cannot respect others, then you cannot respect yourself.
