  1. Re:Payoff?? on Two-Way Satellite Internet For Linux/Mac/BSD/etc. · · Score: 1

I don't buy this kind of thinking. Most calls to tech support deal with these challenging issues: 1. You have your modem/phone cable reversed going into your modem. 2. Can't figure out what this "right click thingy" is to setup network neighborhood" 3. Monitor isn't plugged in. 4. Customer Complaint "How come this doesn't work like AOL did???" 5. mouse and keyboard connections reversed. See where I'm going? My wife works tech support for a national ISP, and they have received only a couple calls in reference to Linux/BSD. Oh, and those calls were for the ISP's network settings, not tech support issues.

I don't agree with this either. A small OS like OpenBSD isn't going to be able to brag about "we sell more t-shirt than any other Os" :) They need cd sales to help track an accurate amount of users. I don't have the link, but earlier this year, a Slashdot post mentioning OpenBSD claimed that there were an estimated 1,500 OpenBSD users worldwide! T-shirt sales won't counter claims like that.

Actually, 2.8 seems to have a much better port selection than 2.7 I did a ftp install last night, and as usual, OpenBSD installed smooth and quickly. And I don't have to spend a couple of hours after the install to secure it up :)

Ok, I see a common topic here. Some people are claiming conspiracy from Microsoft, to make Opensource look bad. Others are worried about Microsoft blaming Samba, ect for using their code. Well, if it is a Microsoft conspiracy, then they wouldn't be able to push too much litigation at Open Source projects, unless the source code really comes to light! Just think. [Microsoft Attorney "Judge, It's possible that our source code was released by a nasty e-mail trojan, so said company A must be guilty!"] Let's see some of that code before we get too worried!
