  1. Binge drinking and drunk driving on Has D.A.R.E Been Effective? · · Score: 1

    From the CNN article referenced
    http://www.cnn.com/2000/HEALTH/03/14/binge.drinkin g/

"Bingers were defined as male students who had at least five drinks in a row on at least one occasion in the two weeks before the survey, or women students who downed at least four drinks in a row. A "drink" was defined as 12 ounces of beer or wine cooler, 4 ounces of wine or a 1.25-ounce shot of liquor.

From a CNN article when the new 0.08 drunk driving standard came in.
    http://www.cnn.com/2000/US/10/23/blood.alcohol.lev el/

A 170-pound man could consume approximately four drinks in an hour on an empty stomach before reaching 0.08 limit, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statistics cited by MADD. A 137-pound woman could have three drinks in an hour before reaching 0.08.

So if I have this straight. Four drinks you are still OK to drive. Five drinks you're a binge drinker. That must be one heck of a fifth drink.

3 Arrested In PlayStation 2 Robbery
Police from Montgomery County and the City of Rockville have arrested three young people suspected of wrestling away a new Sony PlayStation 2 from a 15-year-old. The computer game was released for sale just yesterday. Police say two 18-year-old men from Silver Spring and a 20-year-old Derwood woman were charged with robbery in the incident at the Best Buy store on Shady Grove Road in Rockville. One suspect is accused of pushing the youth to the ground, while a second grabbed the victim's backpack. Police later found two suspects near Shady Grove Road and I-270. They located the third suspect with the backpack and the game near the store.

  4. Re:Holding back supply on Sony Playstation 2 for Over $1k [Updated -- $5K] · · Score: 1

When I suggested they were holding back supply, I meant in the short term to ramp up the hype , maybe even make it on the 11 o'clock news (showing lines of lucky shoppers clutching their prizes). I fully expect them to be easily available by the Christmas shopping bonanza.

  5. Holding back supply on Sony Playstation 2 for Over $1k [Updated -- $5K] · · Score: 1

Sony are probably holding back supply to build the hype. Lines at stores, $1000 auctions etc.

I know AOL is a pariah among /.ers but the only possible way I can see the IE large market share being reduced is if AOL makes Mozilla/Netscape their default browser after their current agreement with M$ runs out. Using the skins in Mozilla they should be able to make it look close to what AOL users are used to seeing at the moment (so they wont scare AOLers with something that looks radically different).
