He was investigated for... something to do with fucking a groupie without a condom as near as I can tell. Who suggested that he's guilty of anything related to that in this thread?
Lucky for me, our IT management is pretty pragmatic and isn't all that prone to making stupid fucking decisions like making everyone who already knows how to use their tools learn new ones to save the negligible desktop budget. I know, it's rare to find good management, especially given the number of Super Geniuses that inhabit this place.
I spent months learning the systems at my job. The real systems, like the networks, the applications, the data models, the various processes in place for working with those, the business processes that are behind all these things. Why should I also take the time to re-learn how to use my desktop and all the desktop apps that I need to use on a daily basis?
Yes, this is all true. This is also slashdot, so I needed to karma whore to make up for expressing a Microsoft neutral point of view. A DRM consipiracy theory seemed likely enough to garner upvotes. Reverse trolling, if you will.
Now we all need to buy new TVs and Blu-Ray players with HDCP2 support. You fuckers should have just caved and got a new 3D TV when they were trying to drive uptake the polite way.
The reasons they gave for not passing those 5 tests seem pretty good to me. I don't honestly know how much use of SVG fonts there is in the real world, but given how many SVGs I run into on a regular basis, I'm going to guess "not much." Also, I seem to recall some discussion of the browsers that DO get 100 only implementing enough of several of the specs to pass acid3.
And? The Webkit/KHTML browsers are open. IE is open but not free. Using "open" as a selling point isn't very convincing when everyone is open and supports the same standards. Mozilla had a lot to do with progressing things to where they are now, but they run the risk of becoming irrelevant if they don't have a compelling product.
Substandard is a strong word, but Firefox seems like it has lost its focus. If they keep it up, you could be downloading Firefox Communicator with 3D blink tag support while the rest of the players pull the market in another direction.
1) Christian missionaries do that, too. Feeding starving people is a means to an end. Unfortunately that only works when there are no other options or when what is on offer is more compelling than the competition. It isn't anymore.
2) Long standing problems that may or may not be fixed in the 4.0 branch (thinking specifically of update functionality in Windows here- there are other examples) and the entire video tag debacle.
And here I thought Mozilla was after producing a quality web browser first and foremost. If I wanted to run something substandard that gives me an unwarranted sense of superiority because it is more open, there are Linux distros specifically for that.
Well, when the J man releases some FULL source material indicating that there is a US government effort to discredit him, I'll believe there is.
That's been tried. Turned out to be a great place to get kiddypr0n by all accounts.

You think Assange could actually falsify the stuff WikiLeaks has put out?
Nope. I didn't pay too much attention to wikileaks before, but given the reaction of the US government, the Afghanistan dox were authentic.
That doesn't mean the things he says to the press are true or complete.
Yup. Trolling. Don't trust the government? Smart. Don't trust some guy with a website? Troll.
This assumes that you trust this self promoting douche to not be completely full of shit.
Not good enough. You've suggested that people stop producing so many fucking people, therefore you are evil. Duy.
It's also part of the reason behind the slow turnaround time on patches coming out of Redmond. They do regression testing.
Do they have code reviews in Open Source land? We sure as hell do in boring business software world. Tends to catch shit like this.
Not interesting enough. Rewriting something that already works is where it's at.

Describing what it does in two words or less.

Maybe we'll also finally get HDDVD/BluRay support in Linux now.
How?
Yes, copypasta is great for karma around here.
Now we all need to buy new TVs and Blu-Ray players with HDCP2 support. You fuckers should have just caved and got a new 3D TV when they were trying to drive uptake the polite way.
Well, inb4 it's a trap anyway.
Bloated fucking operating systems depending on FPUs for decent performance. What the hell?

They are Microsoft. They could give away a product that simultaneously gives head and cures cancer and slashdot would have a problem with it.
