Not trolling, it's the truth. Apple flat out says the only way to get code onto an iThing is through Apple. This Mozilla doodad "duplicates system functionality" of the App Store.

I also think it's a stupid idea on my Android device, wouldn't install it on my BlackBerry, and doubt that MS will allow it on WinPho 7.

The reasons aren't obscure at all. Management rammed idle down slashdot's throat back in the day and as a sign of protest, they made it suck as hard as possible. Now they are pretty much just phoning it in, so don't expect any fixes.

Um, I'm pretty sure the stock browser in Froyo has the ability to run plugins, and Flash is in the Market. Sounds like Adobe did an awesome job of recreating their desktop experience on my phone. Well, HTC on Adobe's behalf. Course, the entire point of securing the rest of the userland is kind of lost when you can just gain root through a fork bomb with no permissions needed...

Tethering is part of the OS and is sitting there in the network menu where you'd expect it. There are also applications you can download from the market that accomplish the same thing.

Tethering isn't a terribly compelling reason to root the G2, considering you just have to check a box in the network settings. The only reason I even installed VISIONary is to add some shit to my hosts file to make my Angry Birds experience better.
