Interesting, yes. But I am still for the Steppes theory. Pacifism would be nice, but it is not likely, judging by the high amount of warrior-hero myths found in IE cultures.
I'll have to look into him. I'm pretty sure my dad's huge collection includes some Simak, I used to see some of the covers growing up. I am lucky to have parents who were huge Scifi buffs.
One is depressing, in a good sense. There Will Come Soft Rains by Bradbury. Its haunting, a small tale after the end of the world.
The other is depressing and just boring. Galactic Odyssey by Keith Laumer. Maybe I missed it, but I just wanted him to have his Lady Raire back already. Which is sad, because I love the Retief books, and feel that while they are not appreciated as they should be. Guy's got a great sense of humor.
