    Which begs the question. What kind of hardware is on the terrestrial end to receive this signal beaming from 30+ year old antennas?
    I would assume modern hardware for signal reception. Deep Space Network must have all sorts of different setups and antiquated stuff.

    Many friends of mine simply used a 'shared phone number' to give the checkout clerk when they asked. Works like a charm and you only need to fill out the app card once.

    Have them get an AMANDA environment up and running. You could run the clients as virtual machines for additional abstraction or use physical machines and even vary the client OS-type. It builds CLI knowledge, server configuration, client-server model, etc.
