I, on the other hand, grew up with the prequel trilogy, and so I view them thruogh the eyes of a child. I know hayden christensen can't act, and I know there were other problems with it, but for some reason I can't shake that idea that they were amazing. I think those movies were my first experience with laser-shooting robots and Jedi.... Maybe that's why.

When I drive I generally drive at around 5 above the speed limit. I say generally because if I'm trying to go 75, almost never am I actually going 75. I'm going anywhere between 72 and 77. Those limits may change if I'm gauging my speed based on someone driving in front of me rather then constantly looking at my speedometer. It's almost impossible to keep a car on a certain speed unless you've managed to find the perfect inclination of the accelerator on a perfectly flat road (hint, perfect flat roads are pretty rare most places I drive). Even with cruise control the speed of the car can vary slightly.

If people got stiff fines for going over 1 mph (km where you are), then the amount of drivers on the roads would drop significantly. People would start driving UNDER the speed limit, which kinda defeats the point.

Plus, speed limits are a little out of date. There's a highway near me that has corners with a speed recommendation of 40. I tend to go around them at 60 because my car and tires can handle it. (wouldn't do that while it's raining though...) Modern vehicles can go faster than posted speed limits because of advances in technology. So we drive faster.

If you have the ability to learn to program, then the basics of C won't be that difficult to grasp (I said the basics. Some of the more advanced topics of C can take a while to learn, but you can still write programs without knowing them-they'll just be more inefficient).

I agree with your second point, but not your first. Ruby is not a horrible language. On the other hand, I see no need to learn Ruby when I can already do everything I need in perl/php. I guess it's a simpler language though, at least from what I can tell. At least simpler than perl (not like that's a high bar). So I can see why some people would enjoy using it. Same with Python. I don't use it myself. Learned it, decided it was basically PHP only a little prettier.

Religion: The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods.

By that definition, the Church of Google, http://www.thechurchofgoogle.org/, is a religion. Jediism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jediism) is a religion. Just because very few people take it seriously does not make it any less of a real religion. Note that also doesn't mean that it's something that people SHOULD take seriously.

As a basic fast food worker, average pay, according to the website above, is $7.56. Multiply by the standard hours in a working week (40) and you get $604.80. And that's assuming they keep you on full time. I would guess (don't know for sure since I've never worked in a fast food place) that they keep workers under 32 hours a week so they don't have to pay benefits. So it's probably more like $468.72 for two weeks ($756*31*2). So yes, if every single expense is taken care of for them, an average McDonalds worker can probably afford an ESRB rating after working a month. But I would imagine that is generally not the case for most people who develop apps.

If someone is proposing to eradicate an entire species, then we really SHOULD think about if it's a good idea, not just say "well it will fix some problems so lets do it!"

I have no problem telling that to a victim. I fully agree that we need to find some way to deal with the malaria and West Nile and all the other horrible things mosquitoes carry, but I think we can find a way to do that without ripping apart the food chain and doing God knows what to the ecology.
