    Reservations have nothing to do with marks/merit.
    India is a Representative Democracy and not Meritocracy like Taiwan or Sharia like Saudi Arabia.

    Reservations is to provide opportunities to socioeconomically diverse communities in public/private institutions.
    It is similar to Diversity Immigrant Visa in US.

    Otherwise Muslims/Christians/Anglo-Indians/Sikhs/SC/ST communities will invoke the 1932 Round Table Conference Resolution to seek their Autonomy/Homeland via a Bill in Indian Parliament.
