well... obviously a higher clock speed means the same "native" NOOP commands would run faster... the problem is most certainly lack of optimized software written for the architecture. i'd very much like a highly optimized single core machine that didn't attempt tricks like "hyper-threading" that destroy any attempt to engineer real time systems... but operating systems have grown fond of the tweaked chips and there is seemingly no looking back.
yeah, that's what we were doing... lots of imaging on gigantic data sets where latency was crucial (off site medical diagnosis). the SGIs outperformed everything
the SGIs also outperformed the alphas for server daemons and we switched the math and computer science department web servers off the alpha.
that is when i first realized the Mhtz race was useless marketeering... what good is horsepower without proper gearing? the alphas seemed to lag behind everything else i had access to despite having almost triple the clock speed.
i watched 10 times as much engineered on sun and SGI machines... my COMPAQ PRESARIO outperformed my alpha on some tasks running at less than half the clock speed.
they were RELATIVELY useless.
i'm a fan of the MIPS architecture and loath things like hyper-threading, but throughput doesn't lie. there was obviously a lot of bad programming on the OS layer as doing anything in the file browser would cause the window to reload every single element and redraw it... super lag... hard to blame the chip for stuff like that, but there simply wasn't enough software optimized for the architecture.
re-moderating your troll posts with your network of moderation enable accounts?
you're completely pathetic.
"Mikey Kristopeity" is operated by a pathetic individual attempting to steal my identity. they hypocritically game the systems of control on this website while condemning my use of multiple user accounts.
to the individual responsible: present yourself to me; admit what you've done, then i'll bring upon you the ultimate punishment for your transgressions.
no, i'm michael kristopeit... i'm claiming you are an idiot... that is what "you're an idiot" means... of course that also means you wouldn't be able to understand this description, either... sadly you'll probably never understand your idiocy, moron.
they are ALSO going to be picked up REGARDLESS IF THEY FALL for use as hockey sticks and bats.
yes, i do understand it... that is why i'm claiming that some packages are picked up more than others... such as long and slim packages that can be used similar to hockey stocks to propel smaller packages along the floor.
to further the obvious implications of my point: THE STORY IS UNNECESSARY.
a solution was not given because no workable solution exists without trusting an all powerful 3rd party entity to decide what is safe for you.
all interfaces are subject to exploitation. devices can fit inside of an ATM card slot to scan cards... as long as a user expects to put their card in a slot, there is no defense other than perusing and prosecuting offenders.
this is not news or security research... this is ignorantly hypocritical marketeering.
being too clean doesn't make people sick any more than being alive makes people sick.
the data indicates that being "too clean" makes people MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO BECOMING sick.... and in those terms "too clean" is defined only relative to that susceptibility. the article is ignorant rhetoric.
also, being less clean does not guarantee less susceptibility to becoming sick.
all of the proper scientists have long left this internet web site chat room message board. nothing is left but ignorant marketeers pushing their hypocrisy at no cost to anyone who would hear it.
tell me, you don't spend much time recording or mastering audio? i'm sure your mp3s are playing just fine off your onboard audio chips. you and your grandma both probably couldn't tell the difference.
you haven't heard? nothing but marketeers here now... story submission, editorial approval, and comment moderation... all manipulated for to the end of further manipulating markets and consumers.
you're all ignorant hypocrites.
slashdot = stagnated
the available native code was relatively non-existent.

got it... so the ignorant public just never UNDERSTOOD how good the alpha product was and that is the reason they didn't buy it.
you're an idiot.
if only microsoft had dedicated itself to a symbiotic relationship with alpha to cross optimize... wahhhhh wahhhhh.
perhaps one day you'll not be an idiot?
the SGIs also outperformed the alphas for server daemons and we switched the math and computer science department web servers off the alpha.

so "scammers exists" is basically the meat of the claims of the story... this is news?
