I'll do ya one better: When I saw TMI last nite, the *whole* audience laughed when the fiance died the second time...we all knew it was coming, and it was flat-out hysterical this woman keeps dying. Personally, I was hoping for a third go, but no such luck.
By the way; as shitty as the movie was, there was one nice thing; Alan Young, who played Philby in the 1960 George Pal TMI, made a cameo as the flowershop owner in that same scene (well not technically a cameo since he was in the credits, but you know what I mean).
...yes and no.
I live in NYC with RCN Gold Package:
-Local Phone service
-Digital cable (shitload of channels, including 4 HBO's and 4 Skinemaxes)
-Cable Modem
My bill is $120. Very reasonable. Throw in my long distance, it's about $140. No where NEAR $230, let along $200. I would be sure that under the new AOLTW plan you could have stripped down packaged (who the hell wants video on demand?)
"...the Love Interest, voiced by Cree Summers (most familiar as the white chick on A Different World..."
Hahah nice. Taco you're color blind, which is a noble thing, but hello, Cree Summer is African American. The "white chick" you are referring to is most certainly Marisa "Oscar Fluke" Tomei. Sheesh.
I can't speak for the current management of HLC; perhaps they are honest. But the founding group (most of whom have since been fired/left), were far from it.
Hinkley's actions were inappropriate, agreed. He made some poor decisions from the get-go; agreed. But this is only one side of the story. But we have to ask ourselves; what led him to these drastic actions?
Is it possible he was coerced by a very persistent and pusausive group of people?
Is it possible he signed agreements under false pretenses?
Is it possible that once he got to work in Toronto, he was treated like a dog in adverse working conditions?
All the above is true.
Hinkley was young, greedy and stupid. But he was also taken advantage of by even greedier and stupider people.
We could have a flame-fest ad-infinitum over this, but in the end, Adam has done a lot of growing in the past 3 years, and is looking to the future. At least I can take comfort in the fact that HLC truly never achieved its goal of global domination. In the end, the warez kiddies always win.
Your take is essentially accurate, except for one missing point. HLC was initially formed by Hinkley and about 4-5 people who were just regular HL users (i.e kids)...in fact, it began life as an "advocacy" group.
It wasn't until a certain Canadian member *cough*jr*cough*, convinced Hinkley that if he were to come to Toronto, and sell his soul to the Devil, he would be made rich, rich, RICH! It was only later that "investors" were brought in (I put that in quotes because investors actually give you funds, and clearly these guys had not.)
Because a user connects to a single Hotline server at a time, and all interraction on said server is centralized *on* that server. Individual users do not host files, the server does.
Napster is completely decentralized (aside from the mp3 database).
A truly sad story. The blinding greed displayed by Hotline Comm. was nothing short of criminal. That Hinkley was foolish, naive, whatever, is of course moot at this point; as his statement says, he's moved on.
Poetic justice? Hotline (which is client/server, NOT P2P, btw) has degraded into a banner revenue machine...perhaps their slew of advertisers will realize that focusing ads to pr0n hounds and war3z leechers is not such a brilliant idea (as it is, most of these types use nobanner hacked versions of HL anyway...)

Founder Shawn Fanning...set to return to the company after announcing their resignation earlier this week.
..after realizing he had zero experience or skill to work anywhere else.
Do not underestimate the power of Kirsten Dunst's breasts to put asses in seats.
Kinda like the Cue:Cat? Cool, cuz we know how successful THAT was!
That's it- I have to abandon OS X.
Doesn't bother me:
Pearl Harbor
The Holocaust
Tienemen Square
Those are all shorthands for tragic events. I don't think any are trivialized.
You're kidding, right?

It looks like if you have a history of drinking, lying and cheating you won't be going into space anytime soon
Well thank GOD that's a new policy, as those traits fit just about every Mercury-Gemini-Apollo astronaut!

Galaxy Quest *was* a good movie. Gladiator was good, but WAY overrated. In any case, LOTR makes them both look like grade-school shite.
it's just the cliche, derivative logo that sucks.
Dear God, this song makes the theme to Star Trek Enterprise bearable.
What about VaporOS?
Sweden has some great OS development, really!
VT!
..over the "new" Enterprise. All the fanboy goodness can be found at here
Cut me some slack, no one ever referred to "the Indian Chick" on A Different World... ;)

Did I miss the first one?
Ahhhhahahahah this distortion of the truth is utterly comical. Anonymous coward, indeed.

Here's their typically self-serving slant on the court ruling.
If you have about 3 hours to kill, read the judgement in its entirety and marvel and the byzantine particulars of this case.
