  1. Re:7 Billion Zombies on World Population Expected To Hit 7 Billion In Late October · · Score: 1

While I support your implication that New Jersey is a near incurable problem, I do not support the idea that there will always be billionaires. Billionaires are a fairly recent trend.

In a free market society where greed is king, there will always be destitution and opulence. The fact that there is opulence is not quite the issue. The issue is with the level at which it has been allowed to run unchecked and unfettered for so long. The purpose of the state is to help defend those who can't defend themselves and as of late the governments of the world have been bought and paid for by the super wealthy for the sole purpose of subverting this part of government duty.

Freedom is marginalized and near non-existent where there is famine and starvation. Freedom is also marginalized when education is undermined and there is an obvious move towards that in our society as well. When the starvation could so obviously be helped by a simple regulation that might help cap or collect some of the outrageous incomes that have ballooned to such obscene proportions in the last 30 years since the Reagan rape of the american public, there really is no excuse for this kind of starvation and poverty.

Am I suggesting that we steal from the wealthy and give to the poor? No, I'm merely suggesting that we stop allowing the robber barons from taking everything from the most needy in our society and perhaps ask them to pay their fair share, stop subverting our educational system, and maybe just maybe start caring about the welfare of their fellow human beings.

This is sheer and unadulterated genius. The maldistribution of wealth is the single largest crisis facing our world today. All of the biggest problem on the planet, including over population can be directly correlated back to the inequity of wealth spread among the worlds population and none of the issue from pollution to hunger will be solved in our current state.

I'm not advocating that everyone should have everything equal, but the fact is that the gap between the "haves" and the "have nots" has grown to such an obscene proportion that our society is in true jeopardy for the first time ever and if the world economy does not work towards balancing the scale, it will tip once and for all.

    • 3. Slow or stop all real innovation

The financial institutions came up with a lot of innovative ways to get the nations wealth into the hands of a few people but when they had so much of it that they couldn't beg, borrow, or, steal it from the peasants anymore they went to the government and asked for a bailout.

Suing and Counter Suing is only going to work for so long until these guys are going to go to the congress they own and ask for some kind of reprieve.

VZW has only had an iPhone for a relatively short period of time. A lot of AT&T's repeat business is due to people renewing and upgrading their iPhones. Once Verizon starts to get entrenched a few generations with their shinies they I think their business will grow and start taking a bigger bite out of AT&T. Especially since Verizon hasn't even had theirs for 2 years yet.

As for the people you know that are waiting to get away from sprint, steer them away from AT&T because the customer service with them is likely equally poor if not worse.

The point is, whether or not AT&T is shrinking, they suck on many levels and I don't want to have to go back to them. This sentiment seems to be echoed through out this thread which I know is not indicative of society in general, but even if it represents a small part, they will lose market share due to poor service in all sectors of their business.

I'm not sure where you are getting your info. I migrated from AT&T because they are a $hit carrier with terrible coverage and even worse customer service. They hooked in suckers with the iPhone and threw everything else worthwhile out the window. If you weren't willing to swallow the warm jobsy load AT&T was offering on the shiny side of the hardware equation you were basically f*cked for a good phone and even more on data and service.

T-mobile has everything hardware wise but the iPhone plus they have far superior pricing, service, and coverage. If you're wanting something shiny and crappy, you can go to VZW to get your iPhone and still avoid AT&T.

AT&T has nothing on it's competition besides and economic advantage which is steadily shrinking. I personally know 10 people that jumped their ship as soon as VZW started offering an iPhone and that is all about AT&T being a crap carrier and generally a bunch of assholes.

I'm not going to contest that WiMax is garbage, there is no doubt about that, but everyone I know on Sprint is way more satisfied than anyone on AT&T.

If Smith and Wesson knowingly and purposefully sold guns to a regime that they knew were going to use to kill and suppress the freedoms and human rights of their populace wouldn't you want them to be held to account?

Further down someone states that the US gov't should be held to account for doing business with China as well and I 100% agree with that as well, but as we'll see from a lot of the Arab Spring uprisings, many of those newly formed gov'ts will be a little bit more hesitant to jump into bed with the US.

I think it's time we stop letting companies off the hook for helping to subvert freedoms as a course of just doing business. If we allow corporations to just keep walking over our freedoms and violating human rights, just to make a buck or because it's what their customers order they need to be held to account in the same fashion as war criminals and other international criminals. If we are going to berate and sanction china for suppressing freedom, then why are we allowing the people who created the tools that allow them to do it walk away like they had nothing to do with it. If we discourage companies from acting in an anti freedom fashion then perhaps they will think twice about doing it and investors will think twice about investing in them.
