Well I use GNU/Linux on my desktop and i like it better than windows. it's faster more stable and looks better. I know how to use dpkg. I don't care what anybody's grandma uses. Sure GNU/Linux is not completly ready for the "mainstream" desktop buy for sombody like me who's been using using computer since the apple ][ , looked under the hood of all computer and OS I used, GNU/Linux is actualy easier to use than Windows. Windows confuses me , it behaves in inconsitant ways and the logs are mostly useless to figure out why it's behaving wierd. The longer it's been installed the slower it runs, why? don't know. etc, you see my point.
Debian is not after market share, read the Debian Social Contract. It's about freedom.
But then again if you tired of Linux politics don't bother. But you will be sorry when this is the only alternative.
Capitalism is a religion because it is based on faith, on unproveable principles. And most people who live under it are indoctrinated into it as part of a complex of beliefs, provable but never actually proven. It is taught in the vacuum it creates by destroying traditional religions, which it replaces. Which is why its trappings of ceremony, ritual, and heroic leaders is so effective. capitalism, as it is practiced, is a religion - very different from the historical/economic/political theory described by Adam Smith, which was scientific (even if not entirely valid). Science itself is a faith, its consistent practice a religion, but that's a topic for another post, with its inevitable debates about Logical Positivism and inconsistency.
This always comes up: it private it's ok to censor.
Well I have a problem with that because the information content and flow it less and less controlled by goverments and more by private corporations. So tell me : when all information is controlled by corporations that can do whatever they want with it, where I'm going to find unbiased information?

"Some will no doubt be turned off by the fact that DRM is built into the Cell hardware. Sony is a media company and like the rest of the industry that arm of the company are no doubt pushing for DRM type solutions. It must also be noted that the Cell is destined for HDTV and BluRay / HD-DVD systems, any high definition recorded content is going to be very strictly controlled by DRM so Sony have to add this capability otherwise they would be effectively locking themselves out of a large chunk of their target market. Hardware DRM is no magic bullet however, hardware systems have been broken before - including Set Top Boxes and even IBM's crypto hardware for their mainframes."
Do you vote for somebody who has lied to you? The Spanisch didn't.
I'am an American, you insensitive clod!

Sheesh, I am a programmer and i rarely compile/patch a program i want to use, i just install it and use it.
