  1. great! on Mutopia: Where Music is Free · · Score: 1

This site is great, but there really isn't a lot of music on there. And besides, their FTP server is down :( I don't think lilypond is a good format though, it's too complicated to write. I guess this is one of the great things about /. , We find new sites, and make them big! :)

  2. This isn't fair.. on PC "Lemon Law" Bill Introduced In Pennsylvania · · Score: 1

I have a couple of things to say.. quoute: "If the computer has multiple problems, a second repair is not required, and returned computers could not be resold in Pennsylvania." What about people who want to buy the broken/cheap computers and fix them up.(like me) It's often cheaper then buying a new system.. ALSO I have a small comany that maybe makes 4 computers a year. (It's justone branch) We do tech support, but becasue we custum make the computers by buying it off the shelf at the store. WE can't afford to toally fix these computers, like that.. (not saying that we won't fix the computer) This law just provides safty, nothing else !!!

  3. What about KDE? on 'Gnome Foundation' Takes Aim at MS Office · · Score: 1

So, does this mean that KDE is dead? If the major vendors have chosen gnome, where's KDE? I myself think that KDE is better, but I know that many many people like it. I don't see how they are going to make it super simple. U still have window managers to deal with, and learning the linux file system. That's a lot different than microsoft. ALSO, in the article it said that IBM is going to have pre-installed linux on it's thinkpads!!!!! awesome.. but he said gnome, does that mean they are going to get rid of tty1, tty2, tty3, tty4, tty5, tty6? AND compaq is going to announce that they will sel the Ipaq with linux preinstalled!!! That's pretty cool... It's intresting, windows cannot be put onto a smaller device, that's why microsoft has had to develop Pocket PC. But linux can. That makes a whole new market for linux and gnome.. Servers, Desktops, Internet Appliences, and HANDHELDS. Beat that MS! -everything I said relates to the article in the NYTimes-

  4. Ha on Java Security Hole Makes Netscape Into Web Server · · Score: 2

I am an IE fan, by all means, and this looks way worse then what small security holes IE has. Now you wonder, what were the programers thinking? Was it a true mistake??? OR was it purposeful? IT makes you wonder :)

  5. nanooooo on Killing Friction: Nanotube Springs And Bearings · · Score: 2

Fun Fun Fun, Get your new cars, and toys, and computers, and fans all at super high prices and super low size. Yes eveyrthing you see here is made from NANOTECHNOLOGY which ihenables us to make everything super smaall, with super high prices. Get a million of these fans, to fit in 1 inch, only 2 mil for it. Or have a robot that can do super complex tasks.. like BUILD ATOMS this and that is part of everything you can do with NANOTECHNOLOGY ... seriously, it's pretty cool, just it sounds really expensive, how are you going to get a fan out of this for a reasonable price :)?

  6. intresesting on CNET And MozOffice: Mountains And Molehills? · · Score: 1

I find it intresting that they found something on the net and believed it.. I don't trust much I find on the net unless it's from a major news source (like slashdot). But when the major news source starts to believe stuff they find on small pages, or newsgroups, it makes you wonder. Who are the writers of these things? And who are the editors. C|Net is big, and even bigger now that it bought ZDnet. Hopefully ZDnet doesn't lose quality because of C|Nets ownership.

  7. Mistakes on CNET And MozOffice: Mountains And Molehills? · · Score: 1

And C|Net just bought ZDNet? What can we expect from them. Whoever found this "article" deserves to be fired. C|Net I trusted, and now I'm not to sure. You never can believe what you find in the news :)

  8. Changing tactics on RIAA Responds to Napster - Raises Serious Questions · · Score: 1

Either napster lied, and knew about all these things, or Napster changed it's tactics, and then how to go aganst these things. That's not good to do that. I love napster, and RIAA should be taking advantage of technologies like napster to distribute more music. Good Luck Napster. RIAA overcharged consumers 400 million in the last 4 years!

  9. Give me a break! on "If You Can Put It On A T-Shirt, It's Speech" · · Score: 1

I congratulate David Touretzky on his well job testifying. What have we come to? We put a thing that's somewhat in the public domain, and put it on a T-shirt, and then get supeoned?!! Give me a break! Were trying to help ourselves with the DeCSS code. Giveing DVD to Linux, or other OS's. All these big alliences of companys, that sell entertainment stuff, do the world bad!

  10. Have fun... on Freenet Music Venture; Napster-like ROM Swapping · · Score: 1

Even though it's illegal, it would be kinda cool to have the rom sharing, because I could but it on my visor (palm) and play them. It's kinda hard to find them.

  11. Redhat on Red Hat 7.0 Beta Is Out · · Score: 1

I knew this was coming, because my local Computer Store is now selling 6.2 for 30 dollars. 30 mail in rebate, 20 instant savings. Hopefully because of the 7, and them not using 6.3 they'll include kernal 2.4! I just can't wait!!!!!!!
