I own a Nook Color (7" screen) and have spent a lot of time with other people's iPads. I find the 7" to be more comfortable for reading in portrait mode. The 10" device the lines just feel a little on the long side. However, if you prefer larger text or reading in landscape (where it typically shows as two pages) then the larger form factor is more comfortable.

The 7" form factor was the main reason I got the Nook Color... I think it's the ideal cross between big enough to play angry birds/draw shit/type on the virtual keyboard but small enough it can fit into the pockets of some of my pants or easily into my GF's purse. It's also a more comfortable weight for holding up for long periods of time (IE: in bed, where I use it a lot). I think half of the iPad's success is branding... the exact same device from any other company would probably not have met with nearly as much success due to the price, size and the fact that it's really not as convenient as a mobile device as slightly smaller form factors.

The AC which you replied to was simply pointing out the original AC's argument was faulty because Windows users don't pay for the software in question either. However, both Windows and Linux users paid the same price for the hardware, the price of which includes support for the drivers. If they offer Linux drivers, then it's only fair to expect the same level of support offered for other platforms.

I've had the opposite experience. Every ATi card I've gotten in the last 5 years has run beautifully, with two issues:
    1) Windows 7 started freaking out about my Radeon x1650 about 6 months after upgrading from WinXP and would only use the basic VGA driver with it. I was long overdue for an upgrade anyway, so I replaced it with a Radeon HD 5450, which has run beautifully ever since.
    2) My laptop's ATi card had issues with some distros of Linux when it first came out in 2006. However, by early 2007 it ran without an issue on Linux Mint and by 2008 i didn't have any issues with any distros.

My current desktop runs a Radeon HD 5450, HD 4550 and Intel HD 3000 integrated alongside (six monitors) and so far the only drivers I've had issues with are the Intel ones. I use those cards because they're cheap and very low power and sufficient to run Diablo III smoothly on the largest monitor, which is what my usage case calls for.

Nvidia on the other hand, I've had nothing but problems with. It's all about what you plan to use it for and personal experience.

There's a world of difference in quality between digital and analog, especially if you're like a lot of people and hear better in some frequencies and worse in others (especially higher pitches). However, I never once had an issue with any of my analog hearing aids but the digital ones have to be repaired every 12-24 months.

My biggest beef with the audiologist is that they won't give me a setting for better-than-normal hearing. I figure as long as I'm paying this much money I might as well use one of the otherwise unused program slots for hearing more sensitive than the normal human range for those times when I am in an extra-quiet environment.

It'd be like them reinstalling Windows if you took your laptop in because the exhaust fan died.

The more technology improves, the more quality control seems to go down the can. I've had more problems with my current set than any other before it. My last set before these also had some problems. Never had to get any pair before the two most recent repaired in the 19 years I've been wearing them, in spite of the fact that I'm taking much better care of them now than when I was younger. Warranty periods seem to be getting shorter too.

  19. It would seem they don't do backups either. Every time I've had my hearing aids sent in for repair, I've had to have them reprogrammed from scratch because they never save the settings first.
