Sounds like he is an idiot who entered his password into some sort of malware.
I have used hotmail/msn/xboxlive for a long time and the only people who get fooled into this type of attack are not tech savvy.
Usually this type of attack appears from another user on msn who sends you a msg "HEY I POSTED THOSE PICTURES FROM THE PARTY"
redirecting you to a fake site login.......which you must enter your msn credentials into.
Thus stealing your accounts password.
I say its hardly hotmails fault....more like user error

Hell I can use subsonic and stream my whole music library to my phone or any web browser for nothing.
Try searching for a review on any say computer tech hardware item.
First page of results will be garbage redirect sites that have spidered other websites and cloned their prices and tried to present it as their own.
Google is slowly turning into complete shit, this probably has more to do with investors having more say, and growing too large too fast.
Does anyone remember how really great their search results were when it was just a research project?
