  1. Re:They better change the name on News on Pentium IV · · Score: 1
Why not just call it the "Hexium"? I think Intel stuck with the name Pentium because Pentium III sounds much more powerful than Octium ... (besides, those three I's stand for Internet Internet Internet)

Slackware (4.0) already has support for glibc. In fact, it has glibc installed along with libc5. However, it is set up to link programs with libc5 by default, and all the precompiled stuff is linked with libc5.

Check out this article if you want a more balanced article about FreeBSD.

If you've decided once and for all that you're never, ever use an operating system other than Linux (or FreeBSD, or Windows, or whatever) ... why not just say "I'm really close-minded" instead of "Your operating system sucks?"

CDNow may have okay selection, but their prices have always sucked (aside from those rebates they offered on Harmony Central.

Try www.cdworld.com; the prices are cheaper than CDnow and the service is fine.

I am a high school student as well as a Linux/FreeBSD user. While it would be nice to have a stable, fast, cheap, unix server in our high school instead of the slow NT shit that we have, none of the network people (read: business teachers) would know how to maintain it.

Every once in a while, there will be a student who can help out (such as the guy who wrote The Linux Users' Guide -- he graduated from my high school a while back), but schools can't depend on people like that. ``A couple of good IT administrators'' are kind of hard to find.

Slashdot should stop posting Microsoft flamebait. Flaws in IIS are one thing, but uninformed ZDnet articles and Mindcraft tests seem to serve the sole purpose of attracting the less, err, rational Linux users.
